City close on Nir Biton

Not an extensive article. Could be the new Gai Assulin?

Manchester City are finalising a deal for FC Ashdod midfielder Nir Biton, 20.
Biton impressed on trial at City. Everton and Aston Villa were also interested

I thought we signed him ages ago!

At 20, for me with the world class players we have and great squad, if we are signing a 20 year old he should be able to compete straight away for 1st team squad and be in with a chance of playing, based on dougs reports when he was on trial he seemed more of a player for the future and thats why signing like this dont make much sense to me. Similar last season with Luca Scapuzzi he was never going to come even close to challenging at 20 what was the point of signing him?
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Clearly if we're still chasing him now, Bob really rated him.

That will do for me.

I remember a player making me sit up when I saw Israel's U21's & having seen the Youtube clips, I'm pretty sure it was him. Big & skillful.

Presumably if he becomes a full international we can get a work permit ?

Whatever the standard of the oppo, if someone did shit like that v Stockport reserves, we would be quite impressed. To even attempt the 1st goal takes skill & confidence. He's scoring from distance with both feet & knocking in headers but as far as I know he's a midfielder. If he doesn't make it, fair enough but it's pretty easy to see why Bob may fancy giving him a try.

This video is even better.

I like random potential signings like this. It's pretty clear from both of these videos that he's a huge cut above the rest of the players he's up against at that level. What's to lose? There is a look of the yaya about him, and just cos he's 20 now it doesn't mean he should already be the finished article. Arsenal made a habit over the years of signing players from hardly anywhere who went on to great things. Wasn't Ljungberg 21 or so when Arsenal signed him from Sweden? Kolo Toure signed from nowhere for Arsenal when he was 21 too.

There are still bargains out there, and players with untapped potential, like hopefully this lad.

glad, very glad, to see the Club looking actively after the issue of Yaya replacement for the future.
those kind of things define the long haul sight.

1. "unintelligible language"
2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

From the 2 occasions I saw him in training he looked a possible and without a doubt a better prospect than Scapuzzi and probably even Razak. He should make it with an English team but the big question would be whether he has what it takes for the premiership champions...cos that's what we are.

It's quite clear that he has a lot of raw talent. With players like this you can sometimes see a remarkable improvement in ability in only a couple of seasons. Like it or not, look at the improvement of Welbeck. He looked absolutely bobbins two years ago, but his improvement is vast. It's quite clear how much he's come on. Playing with better players helps. Being trained by better coaches helps. It's sometimes as simple as that. What's to say that couldn't happen with Biton?

Given the swagger he has when he plays the game, it looks quite obvious that football comes natural to him, and he looks like the kind of player who takes it all in his stride. Definitely worth a punt based on what we've seen. You rarely see that kind of confidence in a youngster. For what, £1m, (at most?) he seems definitely worth a go!

A key point is that at 20 tears old he doesn't count towards our squad for either the prem or europe. These types of signings are worth the gamble!

He would count in the squad for Europe. Under 21s have to be at the club for 2 years to qualify for the B list.

I thought he had a trial with us a while back? Maybe there was a visa problem or something.

Nir Biton sounds like the name of a random character in an Agatha Christie novel.
