How about a roof we could strap people to. Increase capacity by 30k.

Easy.

as I've said a million times (snigger), all parts of the roof are supported by external structures, so "raising the roof" is not the world's hardest feat of engineering:

Just make the spirals and the spiders legs bigger/stronger and bob's your uncle. Antii may have mentioned this but I for one wasn't listening
Never criticise a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.
And you'll have his shoes.

Exactly!

Also, like I said earlier, massive concourse towers are clearly standing on their own (there's a seam between councourse structure and main structure if anyone wants to check) so any new roof structure could be supported by these structures with carefull structural design. Base structure on the ground might have to be shored somewhat but again, that's no biggie.

You mean like this playa?

Precisely!
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

That's if we want a conventional roof. It could be part of another structure built around the ground with hospitality, hotels, casinos, tv studios, media centres etc overlooking the ground & the roof could be part of that rather than part of the ground. Tickets for that area could be charged as a different package to the football tickets in the ground below.

Anything is possible. It just depends what they want to do.

if those dicks over at trafford house can get excellent road facilities to allow their cockney followers to get darn sarf asap, the first priority of the council should be to get that bloody tram line completed pronto. An extension of both ends and a return to standing areas will help

In all fairness, we don't do so badly, the metro link isn't that far away from completion to the stadium, we sit on the inner ring road and are only a few miles from the M60 outer ring road. Considering that we are within easy walking distance to the City Centre for most and we have a mainline rail station only a couple of miles away...I think we get a pretty decent deal.

I do agree about the return to standing areas, which at the time coincided with the initial Sky deal and was nothing to do with safety but all to do with money, ticket prices and TV audience figures.
