Time to sell De Jong

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Time to sell De Jong

Postby carl_feedthegoat » Wed Jun 20, 2012 1:05 pm

Otherwise we lose him for nothing next year.
The greedy bastard wants 130 k according to some reports , City offered him 100 k and he is refusing - we should sell him asap IMO.

NIGEL DE JONG insists he plans to see out the last year of his Manchester City contract.

The Holland midfielder’s future is up in the air after talks over a new deal worth more than £100,000 a week broke down last year.

City risk losing the 27-year-old for nothing next summer.

But ex-Hamburg ace De Jong said: “My contract runs for another year — so I’m in a pretty good position.

“I want to stay. I’ve been at the club more than three years and I’m feeling really well.

“I have won the FA Cup and the league title, which are the biggest trophies in England.”

De Jong, frequently a sub last season, added: “I saw the club change from complete mayhem at the training facilities into a real top club.

“It’s part of the job I occasionally warm the bench. We have a squad rotation system.

“I prefer to play but it’s all about the team and we won the title, so it was worth it.”

City have rejected Inter Milan’s bid to use centre-back Andrea Ranocchia, 24, as bait to land 26-year-old Aleksandar Kolarov.

What offends you about that article? I hope we strike a compromise and he stays.

I would like him to stay. He wouldn't be in my best 11 but he's definitely a good player to have in the squad and will play plenty of games.

It seems last year we offered him £100k per week and he turned it down hoping for more. Unfortunately, players in his position rarely earn the highest salaries in football, and besides, he's not worth £100k per week in my opinion.

If he gets £60-70k per week, he's on a great deal and we shouldn't be looking to offer more than that. I think that's what the club are doing now and if there's no chance of him signing a contract worth that then Mancini will be open to on offer this summer.

What offends me is the greedy cunt wanting 130 k per week when we offered him 100 k - he wants what Barry gets a.nd the only reason Barry got 130 k (or thereabouts) was because we had only just started our journey to world wide dominance!!

De jong is not vital to our set up , so he can fuck off.

I agree that if Nige doesn't accept the terms on offer or a compromise can't be reached we need to sell, as it would be criminal to let a player like Nige walk away on a Bosman at the peak of his career.

BUT I think you're getting a bit carried away Carl, these figures are being bandied about by tabloid journalists, why would you give them any credence?

De Jong has not signed a new contract with a year left - Man City never leave it this late without a valid reason.,aybe the figures mentioned are not correct but whatever the figures De Jong is not accepting the new deal and City wouldnt be offering him a 10 k rise would they!

Him being a greedy cunt still stands mate....it pisses me off.

Love the guy, but I consider him a bit of a liability. At times he is like a "Bull in a china cabinet". In an important match, there is always the threat of him getting a red which we cant afford now that we are a top ranking team in European competition.

I like Nigel, he has limitations but he performs his role well. if possible we should keep him as a squad player. IMO he was one of the few dutch players that played well in the Euros.
If we cant reach a compromise and he wants to walk in 12 months so be it.
Hopefully we will be even stronger to attract top talent.

Cop on Nigel and sign the very generous contract you've been offered. Still a lot to offer City

Only once, and after two yellow cards.

I want him to stay, beside the fact i really like him as a player, he is a strong character in the dressing room.

Bollox of the highest order. De Jong is a Man City hero and should be treated with more respect than this crap. Just because we won the title doesn't mean we abandon the players who got us here.

bit like a matchday thread this with carl getting himself worked up .
You've even raised his supposed demands 20k in the course of 4 posts
Nigel wants to stay. Mancini wants him to stay.
there needs to be a negotiation in private and because it is private the press are making stuff up and some are biting
Like I said bullshit
stay calm carl and lay off the red bull for a bit
Never criticise a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.

WTF has Lescott got to do with this thread you total and utter fuckign TIT?

There are issues regarding NDJ signing a new contract..he has refused Citys new offer and will be happy to see out his contract unless City appease him with a much better one than what they offered.

That is not just tabloid made up shite...the money involved probably is...but him not signing a new contract isnt.

You and others prefer to believe that its just not true....bully for you.

Isn't everyone entitled to try and get the most money they can? Why should someone settle for a lower wage if they have the potential to earn more while keeping their current job? Especially someone like De Jong whose working life many be done by the age of 35.

Quit having double standards for footballers vs others.

Noone will pay NDJ 130 k elsewhere..he would be lucky to get what hes getting now.I bet a pound to a penny City will not cave in to his demands..he either signs for 100 k a week or City will sell him....as Ive said before, he is not that fuckign important a player that he can have us over a financial barrel.
