Pathetic team selection right from the off. When carroll came on not once did we get a ball into the box. Rooney walk around even though hes had a two game rest. Young pathetic even milner looked fucked after ten mins.
We did well to get out of group but way not good enough

That was incredible.

Imo, those players are not fit enough to play 4-4-2. At the start they were playing like they do for their clubs & passing the ball around but after 20 mins, they were already slowing down & the touches getting worse & worse.

Some of us have said on here, Milner should have been pushed in to make & a 3 in the middle & Rooney dropped deep. If we had been in charge, no way would Pirlo have been able to get on the ball like that.

Can someone explain to me why Wayne Rooney isn't fit ? He has been suspended, not injured. If you gave Aguero 3 weeks off, he'd be like Billy the fucking Fish when he came back. Rooney played like he was recovering from a broken ankle, not coming back after a rest.

The Premier League is the best league in the world and that's because of the foreign world class players that play in the league. England had their reasons not to perform the way everyone expected them to, losing key players such as Lampard and Barry is a major blow to any national team. Every league in the world gets the new years break, except the PL and that's the reason the England players looked very tired imo. Let's face it, we had low expectation going into the euros. Passing the group stage without losing a game was a surprise as well.

People called Ashley clearly should not be taking PKs.

How much for that bloke Pirlo by the way?

He had a great game but proper Prem teams would not allow him the time to play like that (unless he had a rag shirt on). Oppo playing 4-4-2 with 2 slow, unfit centre mids is a dream come true for him.

He wouldn't be allowed to play like that in the Prem, except by whoever 'arry manages to con into allowing him to manage/coach. Play 4-4-2 against him and he has free reign to take the piss inbetween the strikers/midfield. There was a perfect example of it when they showed the long camera shot from behind Italy's goal during one of Mario's many chances - he picked the ball up with no pressure on him, we held our 4-4-2 shape while he looked up with all the time in the world to lauch a pinpoint ball over the midfield inbetween our central defenders (pushed up near the halfway line) for Mario to gallop onto.

We had the chance to get him, but we passed it on. I remember two summers ago we were linked with him. When his contract ran out with Milan. No matter how old he gets, and how slow his tempo, he's a world class.

I rarely am arsed of italy, but have to say that tonight they've got me some pride.
tho, since mid sencond half, when they start to seriously fade physically wise, derossi forced out with half the squad affected with cramps I actually started recalling of Sunderland v. City.
well done to both 20 ( bar the diving cheat and the strolling transplated matha facka), superb defending by England (hurt to say but the cockney racist showed again to be a world class CB along with our Joleon, also Johnson deserves a hail at least for the great stoppage on nocerino). how can Young be picked at this level? = can U**d be "under-represented" to one man only!

as if they need Ze Kraut-munchers has pretty much a bye granted to the final. can see a shattered Italy recover enough to pose a decent opposition.

great game!

Hodgson apparently has said you can't prepare for or practice penalties. What utter cock cheese and as for putting Jordan Henderson on....... I'd have rather seen that barn pot with the hook and the eyepatch running around for us

Yeah well played to Italy & for all England's shit play & 10 man defending, we still created more excitement than Spain.

Well, it was a deserved win for Italy for sure, we were the better team for most of the time, England bossed us around in the first 15 minutes apart for DDR's great shot which hit the post, but then Italy got hold of the game and with more clinical finish we would have spared ourselves the added fatigue of the extra time and the nerves of the penalty shootout.

Now it's time to start thinking about Germany...but if Italy plays like tonight there's a chance to go through and meet Spain in the final (they will surely win against Portugal despite Tranny Boy being on form).

I think they have a decent chance v the Germans. Lescott & Terry are a much tougher pair than the German CBs imo. If Mario is up for it, he can cause them all manner of shit.

No doubt we'll be overpraised but we've been pretty shite in all the matches. Quite how Hodgson thought Gerrard and Parker could cope against a diamond four in midfield I don't know. It was absolutely essential that our wide two tucked in to counter Italy and that Rooney dropped back when we hadn't got the ball. I don't think Milner is good enough at international level but he worked hard and didn't play too badly. It was incredible to see Young stay on after his dreadful performance. Carroll was his usual technically feeble self, Rooney looked as if he hadn't played for two months and as for Walcott he barely featured. We aren't good enough at this level and it's not obvious who can come in to improve us. Wilshere will no doubt replace Parker which is something but we need far more.

Message to Hodgson ditch 4-4-2 FFS.

Carroll controlled & layed off more balls than the rest of the England strikers have managed in the whole tournament. It's not his fault Rooney's legs had gone.

I'd like to see Italy beat the meat heads. My barber's an Italian from abruzzo and I could do without him being all upset when I go for a haircut soon.
