But Ferguson employs them in the PL so what's he to gain from selling them?

Most of the England side look decent in the PL when playing for their clubs. On their Euro showing, though, some of them are barely international quality.

Would you agree that after last seasons events Tevez is worth considerably less than just before he went awol ? If you do , just suppose that Fergie's trinity get found out and United struggle somewhat . Wooney isn't getting younger so when should you cash in on him? United are trophyless and in debt, they don't really have any large assets to sell, sure they will get some money from sales of players , but not much . Mind you, they do have the latter day Duncan Edwards. So i think that now would be a great opportunity to cash in on wooney.

Not according to the Sun. This drivel is read and believed by many. Hodgson succumbed to the hype too. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sp ... rdict.html

WHO KEPT HIS TEMPERAMENT?
BALOTELLI is a well-known hothead and you never quite can predict what will happen next with this brilliant but often frustrating Italian striker. Just ask Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini. He became more frustrated as the match progressed and furiously booted the post when he was denied by a magnificent last-ditch tackle from Joleon Lescott.

Rooney — sent off in the World Cup quarter-final with Portugal in 2006 — was just as fired up as his Manchester rival. But he always managed to keep himself in check and never looked in danger of losing his rag.

WHO LOOKED THE MOST LIKELY TO SCORE?
ROONEY so nearly broke the deadlock when he bravely hurled himself at Glen Johnson’s cross — but he saw his diving header flash just over the bar. The man dubbed by Roy Hodgson to be England’s “Pele” never looked anywhere near as good as the Brazil legend. There was one instant where he tried a Pele-style overhead kick but it went miles over the bar.

Balotelli had a number of decent chances to score but was tackled by John Terry on the first occasion and shot straight at Joe Hart with his second and third opportunities. The Italian also tried an overhead but luckily it didn’t come off.

WHO PUT IN THE BIGGEST SHIFT?
NO ONE could ever question Rooney’s work ethic. Week-in, week-out, the Manchester United star leaves everything out on the pitch and last night was no different in this tense, high- pressure match. But he looked short of match fitness after his recent two-game ban and was blowing well before half-time.

If Balotelli put half as much effort into chasing the ball as he does into arguing with his team-mates he would be world class. But the City striker prefers inspiration to perspiration. However, in front of goal, it did not come off as he had a poor game.

Yes, zuricity, I'm sure Tevez's golfing holiday knocked plenty off his transfer value.

Much as Rooney was shite in the Euros, he generally does well for the rags. Let's not forget he outscored Sergio last year although he won't repeat that next season. By far their best player I would say and, if he left, their threat to us and in Europe would be far less. Only mid 20s too, so plenty of years left in him. So I just can't see why Sir Bacon would sell, even for silly money. Wellbeck is only 21 and shows good potential. He must also be worth hanging on to.

There's something about Young I just don't like - apart from being a rag that is. He looks much more replaceable.

As for the new Duncan Ferguson, well, we all know he is beyond criticism.

Possibly.

With Mario & AJ instead of Shreck & Young, definitely.

what's a real shame, imho, is that the whole playing career of Gerrard has almost passed by without England being able to grab any title.

the other thing that pissed me off about rooney was that it was very obvious he'd done absolutely fuck all to keep his fitness up - he was overweight, sweating like a pig and gaped jawed for the couple of games he was asked to play in - for someone who the team is supposed to be built around it's fucking piss poor and his darling boss wouldn't have stood for it, so why should england ?

Re Hart-world class.
I think his distribution definitely needs improving. Many times he kicks the ball straight out of play and sometimes he holds onto the ball for too long when he should look to release it quick for a counter.
Other than that though, he's as good as anyone.

Gerrard hasn't been that good for England though. Just like almost all our top players over the last few decades, he has been a much better player for his club.

Clive Tyldesley on Talkshite, just listing really small details of Mario's play in order to have a go at him. They never do that kind of shit with wankers like Ashley Young & Rooney. If you dissected their individual touches to that level, you would end up with liquid shite.

This.

Wayne Rooney kicks a post when he misses: "Classic Rooney. Its great to see your big players with a bit of passion in these games. It's things like that which have made United such a success over the years"

Same for Mario: "Typical Balotelli. Struggling to handle his rage yet again. What will his team mates be thinking? Letting himself down badly here."

How dare a professional footballer be annoyed at himself when he doesn't take a chance he believes he should have.

Good to see Capello sticking the boot in on Rooney again. He said Rooney only understands Scottish as he can only play in Manchester, under Taggart orders. I'd suggest he's probably right and it wouldn't surprise me if Taggart tells them to take it easy, make sure they don't get injured. Could I go as far to say Taggart has an influence over certain players, ensuring they don't give 100%?

As already mentioned, Rooney showed total disrespect to England by not turning up in shape. I can understand the holiday and letting his hair down, well, taking it off actually, but at the same time it's got to be in moderation and with regard to being ready for his 1st game. However, being on holiday with the Mrs isn't the same as getting caught out with another woman in a Las Vegas night club at 3 in the morning, is it!

I honestly think Rooney turns up for England and uses it as a PR stunt to inflate his sponsorship deals as he does fuck all else when he's there.

can't disagree with that Ted, is just a fact.
my point tho, is just that it's a shame that having had such a special player to build on England, the best footballing nation, never set a serious challenge for a deserved top prize.
reasons have been debated endlessly and would take longer to expand my opinion but it's just a shame and, taking off our club tinded glasses, I actually don't buy the opinion that he aint be arsed for 12 years: the effort shown on this Euro is a fair clue of this.
England had, without a doubt, great players to surround him, more than on this Euro edition where the "italian" tactical approach has been possibly the most comfortable and easy choice to keep the audience shut.
I always wondered what could have acheived England if They had dared on a bit more of creativity in the last 12 years:
something like a Cityesque 4-2-3-1 with

the ginger cunt and Gerrard in front of the back four
spyce boy --- lampard --- k. dyer
------ shearer (owen - shrek)

ok possibly dates dont match perfectly with every players top peak of career, but I am in a hurry and you know what i mean

It show's his overhead shinner against up was a fluke. He was nowhere near repeating it.
Also against Ukraine when he was put clear in their half and didn't have the pace to get away. Contrast that with that goal he scored against Arse when he put the afterburners on to run from his own half to get on the end of Nanis pass.
