Silva set for next test
David Silva cannot believe how well the last few weeks have gone but will not have long to wait before approaching the final unconquered frontier.
In less than eight weeks, Silva has been crowned a Premier League champion for Manchester City and a European championship winner and history maker with Spain.
The twin accolades confirm the 26-year-old to be at the peak of his powers.
It represents a significant step forward from two years ago, when he was part of the Spain squad that lifted the World Cup for the first time but featured in just two games, for a sum total of 66 minutes.
This time around, Silva has been a central presence.
It was his goal that sent Spain on its way to a remarkable 4-0 final win over Italy in Kiev that saw them become the first side to triumph in three consecutive tournaments, including the World Cup.
Silva has much more to achieve - and that means a sustained tilt at next season's Champions League.
"I want to have my vacation because it has been a long, hard season for me," said Silva.
"But once I go back to City, I know I will be fully refreshed because I want to win more trophies with them.
"The owners of the club have spent a lot of money bringing good players to the club. We have already started to win titles, including the Premier League.
"Now I hope to show we have the quality to do something in the Champions League."
Silva admitted he could scarcely believe what he has achieved over the past few weeks.
A star performer in City's first championship for 44 years, to then back it up in such fine style in Poland and Ukraine represented an incredible effort.
"I never thought anything like this would be possible," he said.
"Of course, every time you go out onto the pitch you try your hardest, then at the end you find out where you have got to.
"But you never really think about the possibility of winning both.
"I didn't play much at the World Cup. This time I did a lot more.
"I played every game, so I am very happy with my contribution. My goal helped the team towards an easy win.
"It has been a great few weeks for me and it feels superb."

Richards 'honoured' by Team GB call-up
The Manchester City defender expressed delight after being selected by manager Stuart Pearce and is targeting a gold medal at the Micah Richards has described being called up to the Team GB football squad as an honour and is targeting gold at the London 2012 Olympics.
Richards missed out on a place in Roy Hodgson's Euro 2012 squad but has secured call-up as one of three over-23 picks for the Olympics alongside Craig Bellamy and Ryan Giggs.
The 24-year-old says he is already looking forward to the competition and linking up with his former manager Stuart Pearce, who gave him his professional debut.
He told Manchester City’s official website: “I’m delighted to have been included and honoured to have the chance to represent Team GB at the London Olympics.
“When I got the call from Stuart Pearce, who gave me my debut at Manchester City and has been a massive support throughout my career, I was over the moon. Hopefully we can win gold for the country.”
Team GB will begin their Olympic campaign on July 26 at Old Trafford against Senegal before games against United Arab Emirates and Uruguay.

Pogba's piss taking of Fergie

Ferguson confirms Pogba's Juventus move

http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/158733.html

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed there is currently no deal in the pipeline which would see Dimitar Berbatov leave Manchester United, but confirmed Paul Pogba is to join Juventus and hit out at a lack of respect from the French midfielder.

Berbatov has become increasingly marginalised at Old Trafford and started only three matches after the turn of the year with a further three appearances from the bench. Despite sharing the Premier League golden boot with Carlos Tevez in 2010-11, he made only 12 league appearances last season though still managed to score seven goals.

Although Berbatov was out of contract this summer United had a year's extension in their favour, which means the club will hope to recoup at least some of the £30.75 million fee they paid to Tottenham Hotspur four years ago.

There had been interest in the 31-year-old from clubs in the Bundesliga, where Berbatov spent five successful seasons with Bayer Leverkusen, but there have been no concrete offers. Turkish club Galatasaray have indicated they want to sign the striker too.

"I don't think I treated Dimitar unfairly but he can feel disappointed that he didn't get more football," Ferguson told MUTV. "He's a fantastic footballer. It wasn't a great season for him last season, partly because I settled more with Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck... and Chicharito [Javier Hernandez].

"He's a fantastic talent. Nothing has happened with Dimitar and he'll join the tour to South Africa and China."

Pogba, meanwhile, is to join Juventus after the Serie A champions' long pursuit for his services. Ferguson was fuming about the player's conduct, saying: "Paul Pogba signed for Juventus a long time ago as far as we're aware. I don't think he showed us any respect at all."

Sir Alex brought Pogba into the first team picture in March as rumours of a move to Italy grew. But it became clear that was not enough to keep the France Under-19 international, who United signed from Le Havre in 2009, and he did not feature in the first team squad again after being an unused substitute against Wigan on April 11.

There could yet be more new faces coming, following on from the signings of Shinji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund and Nick Powell from Crewe Alexandra.

"Yes, there's a possibility," said Ferguson. "We're working on one or two things but there's nothing really to tell you to be honest.

"We always try to get our work done at the end of the season - we spent a good deal of time sorting the deal with Shinji and we'd agreed a deal with Nick Powell before the play-offs which was a good move by us because the boy had an outstanding final at Wembley.

"When you don't get deals done immediately and you're negotiating with a club over a long period, then you can't expect to just snap your fingers and get it done."

well, You may say that this lad's fate has been made in hell, when considering that he's moving from one evil empire to another.
But, when I finally got home tonight and heard this news confirmed I nearly spat my - belated - cup of tea, laughing my arse out loud.
Apart from the obvious - and resounding - bold statement of the rags fall, I thing this youngster, far from being a finished article, was the ultimate remainder of quality into the rags camp. The one around whose talent, they might have tried and rebuild the fading glory.
My passion for the box-to-box midfielders is well known and perhaps I am coming a tad OTT wheen saying he's the only rag I've dreamt to have with us, but I reckon this is a major blown for the Munichs.

I'd really would like to know what our pundits, starting from Ted and DH, think of this news... :-)

Anyone remember how they basically kidnapped Pogba from Nantes?

Anyway, a rag mate of mine said this kid showed half arsed displays in their Academy and reserves and wasn't going to amount to anything. And this was well before any contract disputes so I assume this will be last we'll hear about this kid. Credit for pushing Taggart yet one step closer to grave though.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I heard the opposite from my rag mate and from what i seen looks a player, given utds problems in centre midfield they are gutted he is gone, ferguson wouldnt play him more until he signed a contract, he wouldnt sign a contract until he played more so he ended up at juve.

Thats him and morrison theyve lost now with the possibility of freyers, all is not well at the swamp.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
