"As announced earlier this year I had a meeting with the boss [Arsène Wenger] and Mr [Ivan] Gazidis after the season," said Van Persie, the double footballer of the year. "This was a meeting about the club's future strategy and their policy. Financial terms or a contract have not been discussed, since that is not my priority at all.
"I personally have had a great season but my goal has been to win trophies with the team and to bring the club back to its glory days. Out of my huge respect for Mr Wenger, the players and the fans I don't want to go into any details, but unfortunately in this meeting it has again become clear to me that we in many aspects disagree on the way Arsenal should move forward.
"I've thought long and hard about it, but I have decided not to extend my contract. You guys, the fans, have of course the right to disagree with my view and decision and I will always respect your opinions.
"I love the club and the fans, no matter what happens. I have grown up and became a man during my time with Arsenal. Everybody at the club and the fans have always supported me over the years and I have always given my all (and more) on and off the pitch.
"I am very proud of being part of this fantastic club for the last eight years. As soon as Mr Gazidis is back from his two-week holiday in America further meetings will follow and I will update you if and when there are more developments."

Again rumours flying he has already agreed a deal with City...
So potentially... Aguero, RVP, Tevez, Dzeko and Balo next year (although would expect Tevez or Dzeko to go)....
MINDBLOWING!!!

We have 4 top strikers already and should be looking at a winger and a CB to support Vinny and Lescott. Apart from that, I don't think we need to bring much else in (assuming none of the main squad leave).
IF, for some reason, we are in for Van Persie, then we should offer no more than £10m. He's in the last year of his contract and we really need to be reducing the amount we spend in transfer fees. We completely overpaid for Nasri last year, who also just had 1 year left, and I'd hate to see us pay a similar fee again. No other club would pay such high fees, and now we are the Champions we need to try and lose the 'City premium' we've been paying in the transfer market.

Champions League semi-finall/ final/ winner must be amongst them, as well as retaining our title (hehe,) with a cup
optional if these two are achieved.
Aguero, Tevez and RVP would mean 3 world-class reliable strikers for Manc to choose from,
with Balo and Dzeko (who is imho the most likely to leave,) as backup for cups and 'weaker' teams, and inevitable injuries.
Those who are saying they don't want last season's deadliest striker on the books are mentally ill, i'm sorry.
And he's only 28 ffs.

He basically asked why Arsenal moved from Highbury to increase revenue. charging everyone fortunes, in order to compete with the Man Utd's of the world, if they're not actually going to spend money. Why not just stay at highbury, where they were all happy.
Pretty good point if you ask me.

I sometimes get the impression that its entirely Wenger's decision re the lack of spending.

The mentally ill thing, maybe.
