Don't want to see the club get bit in the arse by a cook-esque decision.
Crossie wrote:We were all pretty happy when we signed him, infact he was the perfect left back signing from what was available at our level at the time. Little did we know how shit he'd turn out to be.
When he turned down Celtic last summer to stay in our reserves, it said alot abit his ambition as a footballer.
Atleast he's going to be playing all season. Very frustrating that the best we can do is loan him to some far lesser team and still probabl have to pay him about 90k a week. There is no way Brighton can afford much more than £10k a week on a fucking left back's wages.

Good point Crossie. We needed to get out of mid table, our left backs (and forwards) were dire. So we had to up the quality a bit to move up the table (not much as it happens, but most in and out the club thought he was half decent at the time.)
We had to pay him a wedge and long contract to leave his old comfort zone and move north etc.
Cookie couldn't have known he'd come up with stats like 37 crosses all to an opponent!!

He bought Zabaleta and Kompany for the same as Bridge cost. He either couldn't care less what players cost once the money arrived or had a complete lack of imagination in his signings. I suspect both.

So many poor left backs in the past 5 years and only two good ones in Michael Ball (decent defending although scared of the half way line) and Gael Clichy, so we're still in need of a backup for Gael! Another summer searching for a left back, sigh.
I'd be happy to keep Kolarov if we do what we should have done with Garrido and convert him into what he wants to be and is best at, a left winger.

The club threw money at signings after the takeover. We signed a load of players to establish us in the top part of the Premier League & we knew at the time, that we couldn't sign 'A' or even many 'B' list players & would have to pay over the odds for some 'C' list players to get them to come to an unfashionable club.
We also knew that many of these players would be fucked off once we established ourselves (everyone used to talk about it at the time; players who we would sign once we were a 'big' name). Are those players so stupid that they didn't suspect this ?
We wanted them, they wanted us. We went up a level. They got paid a fortune. We attracted better players. The 'rejects' made money without contributing. We won the League. They are leaving.
Can you all just stop fucking moaning about it. IT WORKED.

He really was a great LB for us at that time! Probably provided the highlight of our season too:
Garrido was decent too. Never quite understood why we let him go. (or has time just erased the bad memories of him?)

If he keeps up his form from the past two years the front of the shirt could provide very useful for him in May.
