kinkylola wrote:how do you english gents feel about Team GB anyway? I guess it's just Wales and England? Scotland? is NI a part of that? I guess that would be designated as the whole UK, and Great Britain is just England and Wales? I don't quite get it ... and all the welsh people i've run into have told me a lot about how much they hate the English, so I'm a bit baffled. If it matters, my heritage is welsh, but that was a long time ago.
Maybe a stupid question, but there you go.
kinkylola wrote:yea, the confusion is not really about the geography of it ... more socio-political, soccer related. I guess it just seems strange to me that these players play for their national teams ... 'England' and 'Wales' normally, and then they're supposed to come together at the olympics and represent some unified team? I dunno, I wouldn't question why a player from wales would not want to participate ... especially as I mentioned earlier, seems the welsh aren't too fond of the english as it is. I think the feeling is probably mutual.
And why aren't there any scottish players? Are they just that shit? haha. I see they have been added in other sports.
I guess it applies mostly to soccer though, as they make a big deal about seperate nationalities. Other sporting events, track & field, etc ... seems to make more sense as Team GB.

had the pleasure of driving down to Lausanne this am( 3.am) to work, listening to parle le sh*te radio go on and on and on and on about Charlie Adams's ourageous lunge at Roddy M.
Apparently it was a very nasty tackle, sort of thing Adams has been getting away with for all the time he's been at Scouse 1.
