David Platt

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Well - Platt at CITY has been something of an evolution and people's views will also be somewhere on a scale of evolution as well

Go back 4 or 5 years, for me is was just yet another ex-scum player getting TV time due to his past connections. But my view was one of just mild dislike - after all you have to save the really full-on hatred for those that embody the total arrogance of that fucking shite establishment - keane, baconface, the neville sisters etc

Then along came the Sheik and Platt did what so many others in the media establishment did and became anti-CITY - but he actually went further - there was real venom in the attacks and real fear that it could upset his past associations. My feelings slid right along the scale towards being really against the twat

Then along came Bobby and that (in my view at the time) awful decision to bring the guy into the fold. What a fucking hypocritical twat - slinging out the shit and then taking the wedge!! They were my views at the time and I felt that they could not change

Then I have seen the effort he puts in, the level to which Bobby relies upon / trusts him. We have to accept the genuine joy that he displays when we are successful – maybe it is joy for CITY – maybe he is on such a gravy train that he is thinking about the bonus and how success is needed if Bobby is to remain in post – without which the gravy train would end. I tend towards the former and my view of him is one of respect and recognition that he is an important part in our management team.

So I think that the latest step in the evolution has cemented him as a key member for years to come. Therefore I am happy to lose my dislike and admire his professionalism – I am still some way from ‘liking’ him and forgetting the remarks he made will take even longer – but he is now part of the ‘blue camp’ so will do for me.

Others of course can choose to carry their ‘hate’ forward – that is their right. I just hope that a) we fans do not embarrass the club by doing something classless if such a fan was ever to meet up with him and b) that anyone still hating him is not one of the those shallow fuckers (IMO) that wax lyrical about that odious rat-faced twat Neville – they would (again IMO) be true hypocrites. If there is a top 10 of individuals that portray the twatish arrogance that is the scum brand – he is right up there. Platt was never in the top 100

You are being a bit melodramatic here mate, I think Platt does his part but I don't think people are wrong to not like him, took me a LONG while to get past his bullshit about us when he was a pundit.

You need to look melodrama up in the dictionary. Mase's post abot wanting to abuse Platt might fit the bill, me pointing out facts does not.

I've got the badge for Platt hating & even I am starting to accept him.

Just as an aside as Kiddo was mentioned, anyone with a vid of the WBA game have a look at Kidd's reaction & his words to Mancini after the 2nd goal. It's somoene who knows the title race is back on. Rags talk of experience, well there's a bloke who has a bit.

I never really thought of Platt as a rag. He was one that they let go and he caused them embarrassment by making it to the top elsewhere.
Didn't like him as a pundit and am not really fussed one way or the other about him now.
Of course he celebrates our success, it is his the fruition of his, and the people who work with him, work.
I do know that Garry Cook couldn't stand him though.

I think it's that porn star that doesn't seem to have any boundaries. Like any. Not my cup of tea. I'd say Tori Lane, Charley Chase, or Sunny Lane. Not that I watch any porn.

As for Platt, I like him. He looks excited about the project. When we won, he was all over the pitch. He's seen hugging Mancini. He's talking to the media. He's being professional.

On a tangent, does anyone else hate the term 'project' when used in relation to City? It's as though we were founded in 2008!

Maybe it's just me.

I love it.

The Project.

People are frightened of it & others are starting to use it in order to try & be cool & scary, like we are.

People are buying in to his apparent liking of City. His only loyalty lies with Bob and Bob only.

And what's wrong with that? It means that as long as Bob is the manager Platt will give his all. If Bob leaves then I'm sure Platt wouldn't take long to follow him out of the door and you'll have nothing to worry about

SWP joined City in 1998. Platt joined Forest in July 1999. So the story that Platt let SWP go is total utter bullshit, but that won't stop some people repeating it ad nauseum.
