After all the moaning about the venue being smaller than Wembley I would have thought the tickets would have been snapped up pretty quickly!

We didnt even get close to selling out Wembley last year.

There was a bit of a panic on for tickets originally. I'm not sure we'll shift that many tickets to be honest.

An I right in thinking all the anger over allocation/availability was for some just there excuse not to go?

Seeing the venom on here few weeks back I got the impression bodies would drop for these tickets.

Of course they would, any animosity towards the event is probably for some other reason and this is just convenience.

Got my ticket. I know there's a few people on here saying it doesn't matter/ pre-season friendly or whatever, but for me, winning the FA cup and the league isnt enough to make me feel like I can sit back and not care about another trophy in the cabinet.

Plus i've heard Birmingham is a lovely place.

i didn't read any "animosity" but more "where people wanted to spend their cash"...i think people might be justifying their inability or unwillingness to spend in a certain fashion.

It's a football match. I hope we win it.

So anyone got tickets? I want to go!! I live in the midlands, so it is only down the road for me. Went to every cup/massive game of my generation. 1999 division two playoff, last years FA cup, last years community shield, QPR game and hopefully this community shield. Not got loyalty points as bought tickets off other people. Any ideas?

For anyone that IS going.....

I've only ever been to Villa Park once, and it was a league game. I imagine chels/city will have used the same pubs on their trips to AV.

Does anyone have a clue what will happen with the pubs/meet ups. Don't fancy walking into a pub full of Cheowsea. They're meant to be "fackin nats".

I agree in part and I want us to win more trophies, but the Charity/Community Shield is essentially another pre-season friendly only more glorified. It doesn't count as a trophy won when players look back at their careers or clubs tot up how much they have won. Look at United - they beat us in this match last season but yet everyone knows United won nothing last season.

I hope we beat Chelsea and will be watching the game just not going to spend quite a lot of money for a pre-season friendly.

Would you care to elaborate? What is the typical mcf.netter? I have been on this site for years and am a season ticket holder.

As stated above, I hope we beat Chelsea but not spending upwards of £100 over the day for a pre-season friendly. If supporters do, good for them and I have no problem with that.
