Agree with that.

Agger if fit however is a very decent CB.

Skrtel also has 1000% more Area 51/crash landed Alien head in case that's a criteria Marwood considers when he's at the big boy table "makin dills" to quote my friend Bushwick Bill.

Good point. The screams of terror coming from the Family Stand just don't bear thinking about.

Agger is the better player and would be a perfect partner for the more phsyical Kompany.

The way he brings it out of defense is 2nd to none.

Agger was phenomenal at the Euros and would be a great addition for our squad. I would no longer worry about rotating our CBs a bit or god forbid if Kompany or Lescott are injured.

rumour on mersyside was that he was never injured just had a real problem with coke. Seems to have gone now and he is a quality player. I still think to compete in Europe we need a top class centre back.

Too much caffeine can really give you the jitters so explains a lot. He has averaged 30 appearances a season the last 3 seasons, which is probably what we are looking for as we need a central defender with good ball skills for our champs league campaign as well as cover for the Prem.

Although I would happily drive a train over his face, Skrtel is a better defender than Agger.

Agger is much better with the ball though, which is what we need.

Especially if we intend to deploy the 3-5-2 system. Need a libero/sweeper and agger would do nicely. Actually in that role so would collocini...hmmm.

I agree he's better with the ball but imo defenders are still defenders. If one is very good on the ball, it occasionally helps create something but more often than not, the ball ends up back where it started. If you count the number of goals or assists Vinny has made like in the recent friendly, compared to how many times he lumps the ball through to the opposing keeper because he thinks he's a better footballer than he is, personally I would rather that the cb's keep it simple & tight & the midfield drop back & take the ball from them.

For every goal created by 'ball playing' cb's, there's usually one given away by them misplacing a pass or getting caught in possession. Great defenders however, win titles.

Defenders aren't just defenders when you are playing possession based football. We defend by keeping the ball not by looking and playing ugly.

Or Yaya Toure, who is actually genuinely brilliant on the ball as opposed to blokes like Agger & Vinny who are 'good for a defender' which still amounts to the standard of an average quality midfield player.

Our defenders have a fantastic pass completion rate & they are passing it to some of the world's best midfielders. I would rather Lescott passes ten yards to Silva or Toure than watch Agger thinking he's Silva or Toure, then going missing at a corner.

Exactly. If he was so fantastic he would be a midfielder, thats why positions have specific roles. A defender good on the ball means good distribution from the back, good decision making and not panicking....... not playing a hollywood 60 yarder.
