in all honesty, i hope dzeko, savic and kolarov all do one and that we don't sign another balkan for a few years...

I'd let him go to Italy and replace him with Higuaín.

If we could nab De Rossi another defender and a quick right winger i'd be a very happy bunny.

Season is almost here. We will not be signing that many players. I think we'll sign one player before end of the window if that.

i agree. not looking like we're too arsed, which is challenging to me.

How do you feel about it? i think it's an act of hubris that will cost us the league this season.

No point in signing anyone unless they improve us though & the number of players who can do that is small. If the right blokes are gettable at the right price I'm sure we'll try to get one or two in.

We have one or two young players coming in too and we have Tevez fit, so we are a much stronger unit than last season whatever.

well...here's the thing...some pace on the wings with the skills to actually put a ball in the box, CB cover and midfield cover are required aren't they?

Whether they "make you better" you'll never know until you need them.

Are you in favor of going another season, with no pace to change things up when required, with the ACON, and with only 2 high quality CBs and something like a 16 yr old in midfield?

i'm not.

I'm in favour of signing players that make us better or that will make us better in the future. Hazard may have been in that catagory. None of the other players I've seen move so far fit the bill other than Thiago Silva imo.

Roberto Mancini told Sky Italia today that it is unlikely Edin Dzeko will be leaving and he doesn't think Van Persie will join either.

I haven't been able to get to computer since I did some DIY and we were moving houses and I've been away from work for past three weeks or so I haven't been able to post much. I did, however, type longwinded post about how Marwood really has failed this summer with his work with my phone. For some reason it got deleted when I tried to submit.

But to cut long story short, I think Mancini gave Marwood and his team list of players he wanted and I pretty much believe on top of that list was Hazard, van Persie and De Rossi. I'm not going to go into whether they were right players for us but it's clear Marwood has been unable to tie those contracts. He was brought in by Cook because they had history in Nike and Cook felt Marwood was someone who knew the game despite not having previous director of football experience. He had the luxury to learn the ropes when we were simply blowing everyone out of the water with our bids. Now that he is expected to get similar deals done with reasonable resources (ie we are starting to expect some value for money) he simply isn't getting the job done. I was sceptical to begin with to have someone on that seat who had no previous relevant experience.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Hmmm...interesting.

I really felt like this summer was THE summer to find those 2-3 awesome pieces to complement, support and enhance what we're doing. And we haven't got a pot to piss in.

Win the league, and stand pat? fucking never would have guessed it and hope it won't be true...if we do, it's a recipe for disaster imho.

Dzeko said: "I always follow the Italian league and one day I'd like to play in it. I also know that Milan has sold two of its best players.

"For now I am a City player, but to be sure I will stay here I will have to wait until the end of the month. I'll see what happens, and if someone else comes."

Are they from the Sun/Mirror mate or the original story?

I hate reading quotes that make no sense at all, especially as Dzeko speaks good England. This bit makes not sense at all '...but to be sure I will stay here I will have to wait until the end of the month, it looks like 2 separate sentences have been forcibly patched together?

'To be sure I will stay here' states he is not moving nowhere yet in the same sentence he '...will have to wait until the end of the month' which states absolutely fuck all. Is he talking about paying his Pay Day loan!

it makes complete sense.

He's saying that he isn't agitating for a move, but he knows that City are trying to sign a forward, and if they do it probably will drag on and he will have to see what happens at the end of the window, because if we sign someone it's pretty apparent that it's Dzeko who would be the one most likely shipped out.

No Doomy mate, I ain't got it. I know what the sentence is inferring but the sentence itself makes no sense, as if it's been re-jigged to say something different.

I may have read to much this window and the bullshit is finally wearing thin, I think it's took it's toll. All's I want to see is a full story, not some journos/medias own take on a subject. The last one I read said that Dzeko was basically fed up, too good to be a bench warmer and he was off at the 1st sight of an opening yet when I delved a little deeper it turned out that yes, he felt he was too good for the bench but was looking forward to the upcoming season to fight for his place and take us onwards and upwards to another cup or two.

And that's why I asked JC as he put the quotes up. If he's got the original story then at least I can see what was actually said.
