3rd i think...i can't recall...something like that.
Oh, wait...36th.
and you couldn't even beat us last time out. Doh!
36th isn't bad in a sport that other countries actually play!
yep. we seem to be really struggling in the Olympics as well, don't we.
Oddly, several American sports leagues such as Baseball and Basketball contain a lot of players from outside of the US and A.
Anytime you want to bring some facts to a conversation, i'm glad to discuss them chief.
cheers
Michael Johnson thinks you're stuggling in sport in general as a result of the college season system and lack of world competition. That's a fact. Jamie Staff (former UK gold medalist cycler/BMXer) who is now a coach of the US cycling team has said one of the hardest changes he is still in the process of making is in the mentality of the riders who just want to be the best in the US rather than the best in the world. There's a strong isolationist mentality amongst a lot of your compatriots and it can be counter productive when the rest of the world moves on in some sports. (You're on the rise in footballing (soccer) terms though, no one can deny that).
alright. those are interesting points for sure. I think American athletes, whether it is team or individual sports, are put through a system that favors rugged individualism, where local rivalries are often more important than a "world view" and maybe that creates a myopic view for some sports. I couldn't say for sure. It's odd in that we have a really "good" college soccer league in the ACC, which is the Atlantic Coast Conference, who attract some really solid players and their league matches are absolutely fun to watch, but those kids path is then through MLS, which is improving as well, but if they were so scary good or had the potential, and i'm sure many have potential, they should be sent into a different program than a collegiate one imho.
At any rate, Thank You for writing something intelligent in response.
Just for the record...Michael Johnson's "opinion" is not "fact." It is, in fact, no pun intended, the *opposite* of fact, in that, is it, without a shred of doubt, an *opinion*, as you clearly stated.
And a mighty mighty wink to you my friend.
