The teams we beat to win said championship have ALL brought in new players and are very very likely stronger than they were last year.
We were also quite fortunate that Arsenal and Chelsea had disastrous seasons last year so our only real competition was United. That will not be the case this year.
Yes, our team/squad should get better with the experience of longer playing together and the confidence of having won the league
But in relative terms our standing still is effectively moving backwards
It is really not that hard to grasp

So imo, we have strengthened more than Utd (Kagawa) or Chelsea (no Drogba).

The other sides have also lost key players and/or have key players over 30 who will be yet another year older. While we have Tevez back full time and a YOUNG squad that will progress naturally without additions and also with the experience behind them now of winning the league. Why you and your twin sister cannot get this into your fucking heads is way beyond me. This is the last response from me to either of you on anything ever, it's like arguing with theists. Head, brick wall interface as you refuse to accept any logic that goes against against your twisted opinions.

that's a reasonable argument Ted, although you'd probably get a good argument that Chelsea have, and probably Arsenal too, added more talent in quantity for sure, but in terms of impact, Carlos is hard to beat, isn't he.
I think we all want a team that can compete for both the league and CL, and nick a domestic cup. That will take a little more than patching up things with Carlitos.

I don't think we can compete for the Champion's League without signings but I don't think it's easy at all to get those players in.
If Chelsea hadn't appeared on the scene, I recon we would have got Hazard on our terms but they were willing to pay the bribe.
I still wouldn't rule out RVP as I'm not sure Arsenal are playing straight with this one.
Why hasn't he signed for the rags if it's so easy & City/Juve are out of it? Arse are upto something imo & it could mean it goes to the wire. I still think we may well sign him but I don't actually want him. I don't want Agger either come to think of it.

Doomie, Ant,
How a bit of City blasphemy....Though Mancini and the rest of us desperately want what you say, suppose that is NOT the case for our owners. Blasphemy in blue or merely doing what they originally said they would do and merely keeping up with the original project schedule. If true and I believe it is, it changes the whole basis of where we are at the moment.
If I am right, then this season is not about pushing on but financial consolidation. We have reached the point where we have access to the increased income streams we need. It is about getting rid of those players who are a financial millstone, but only on our terms. Those terms are not being met, so we don't play. Khaldoon has already said that if a special player came along we would move for him. But again, on our terms, We have reached the planned level on our schedule so the deal has to be in our favour.
We have bid for players, but those favourable terms have not been met and Khaldoon is happy to allow the deals to slip by in the knowledge that we are in the right financial place to suit our needs and that there will be other opportunities when the time is right to push on.
City blasphemy or not, it does fit and explain every aspect of our behaviour this close season. We are interested but only within our terms and we are happy to walk away.
None of us truly knows waht parameters have been set but I am convinced that Marwood is fully instructed on what he can and can[t do. Not yet the time for the blame game.
Discus....Manchester City deliberately marking time and keeping to the original planned schedule.

I didn't say it mate, Khaldoon did. Tell him it's not that hard to grasp.
The Sheikh, Khadoon and Mancini also stated that the PL was our primary target and I'd suggest a push forward in the CL. That says more to me than anything else.
