Rodwell

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Rodwell

Apparently we're linked to him.

Sky Sports understands that Manchester City are eyeing a move for Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell.

Roberto Mancini admitted earlier this week that he had become frustrated over a lack of transfer activity at the Etihad Stadium this summer.

He is keen to strengthen his squad before the window slams shut at the end of the month as he believes reinforcements are needed if City are to defend their Premier League title.

They have had a long-term interest in Rodwell and it is understood they are readying a move for the 21-year-old.

Rodwell has been regarded as one of English football's finest prospects for a few years and has built on that reputation with a series of impressive performances for Everton.
The Toffees will not want to lose such an important player but could come under pressure to sell if a big offer comes in.

Hmmm...i think i'd be behind this move. He's clearly got a lot of potential. Look at what Roberto's done to Richards. Another talented youngster who was drifting a little. Reckon we could take him to another level.

Is this anything to do with Moyes coming to the stadium the other day for a league manager's meeting? I have a feeling it's more a case of Sky Sports doesn't understand.

He's a talent alright but would have expected more from him at this stage but injury has stagnated his career. He's still only 21 but he has yet to have a full season without missing a large proportion of games. That's not a good sign.

Would not read anything into this. Some guy on Bluemoon started a thread earlier today claiming Joe Royle had said that we are in advanced talks with Rodwell. Some lazy hack at Sky obviously read that thread and suddenly it appears on their website.

I'm a big fan so I'd love this to be true. Moreover, the munes have been tracking him for at least three years so it'd piss off Darth Bacon too. Let's make it happen.

One downside: he seems very injury-prone for a kid.

To my eyes this lad has got all the attributes but only seems to play in short bursts followed in large parts of the game by anonymity.A big risk at the sort of money Everton would want and wont improve us this season.Anyone who thinks our coaches could bring him on needs to explain Milner.

Are we only chasing crocks this year with him and Agger?

Good potential when actually fit, which is hardly ever going by his past few seasons. Made of glass and heading for Kieron Dyer levels of treatment room occupation.

For £5m then yes, but Everton will want daft money for him so we'd be rolling the dice on a 10/1 shot at best with his record.
