Observations from Yesterday

Postby Kippax » Mon Aug 13, 2012 6:52 am

Just following on from a report in the Mail about Kolo supposedly throwing his medal into the crowd yesterday in a huff. Can anyone verify this. I saw who I thought was Ya Ya hand something to someone in the front row, which I assumed was his shirt but with hindsight it could have been a medal. It may also not have been Ya Ya.

Secondly, what thoughts on Dzeko? Following on from his lax display in Woolfsburg, it seemed to me that he was no better yesterday and couldn't wait to get off the pitch, he even had to be called back twice for team photos and then disappeared straight down the tunnel without taking the walk of applause. Me thinks that he is gone or possibly very close to going.

Thirdly. It was a shame to see so many empty seats at both ends of the ground, why was this? Too expensive, lack of interest or did everyone stay in for the Olympic games? We had supposedly sold our complete allocation, so did people just but tickets and not turn up?

Nice to have some silverware in the cabinet so early, I hear the cabinet cleaner has put in for overtime. :)

The reports about Kolo are probably nonsense, but he has to be massively pissed off being overlooked for the useless Savic. As for the empty seats, I'm a bit unhappy about it as I was told, absolutely, that we had sold out. I live 30 minutes from Villa Park and I have a City SC but was unable to buy a ticket due to the sell out. OK, I should have been quicker, but there it is.

Dzeko, I just don't know. He's hit and miss and for the money we paid and that is not good enough. If he's off and we are replacing him with quality, great. He's a million miles away from the quality of Carlitos and Kun. If the quality replacement is RVP, which I still believe is a possibility (nothing more than a hunch) it would be a monster upgrade. If Dzeko stays and runs his tripe out for the team, fair enough.

I was about to ask the same thing. It had something to do with that. FFS, i said before, it's esential for Kolo to stay here for us to keep Yaya even longer.

If you had Messi and his brother, a pathetic player, worst than the worst player in this game? Would you sent him away? Pay the fucker some money and keep him here. He can't be worst than Savic and he is maybe at the same level as Lesco.

I really hope the reports are bollox and Bobby didn't start again with his stupid rows with players. We really don't need this.

I have to say I am a little concerned by this. I really think Yaya is the best player in the league by quite some distance. We MUST keep him happy. Replacing him would be impossible.

I had heard Dzeko had lobbed his medal into the crowd but he later tweeted a pic of his medal.

You're reading far too much into Yaya's celebration there...footballers do the 'angry' celebration thing on their own all the time where they get all full of bravado and stuff. He's fine.

This is what I hoped. I just think it was a little out of character for Yaya.

Kolo did lob his medal into the lower tier of the North Stand - just in front of where I was sitting in block R6. My son saw him do it and tapped me on the shoulder to tell me what he had done as I was looking towards the players who were still on the podium doing photos.

He didnt want to collect his medal in the first place but was apparently dragged up by Kompany but he stormed off straight after the presentation and straight down the tunnel. Apparently Cashley Cole gave his runner-up medal away to a City fan as he went down the tunnel as well.

Savic was uber shit as usual yesterday so I undestand some of Kolo's frustration but he's just signed his exit ticket for sure, which is probably what he's after. Im not that arsed about Kolo but am more concerned with Ya Ya and hope it doesnt affect him.

Dzeko collected his medal and seemed happy enough as he walked past the North Stand clapping the fans.

My observation from yesterday is that we played some great football,
Chelsea didnt stand a chance at our level. Really seeing forward to next weekend

Why is it that if a footballer gets frustrated then they're definitely leaving? Kolo was probably just in a bad mood, if he was even in a bad mood at all.... we all are sometimes. This Kompany stuff is all just hearsay, probably started by some clown on twitter, or by the daily mirror - which come to think it is one and the same thing really.

I've lost track of the amount of times someone has written about a player looking miserable and it being a surefire example of them about to leave...but they're all still fucking here aren't they?

Let people be people and stop making massive presumptions over the tiniest of things. Yesterday was still a preseason friendly. I don't think Kolo's going anywhere personally...I also hope that Mancini will see sense and start him next week and not Savic.

Where I was sitting, it seemed as if a lot of seats were reserved for those McDonalds community footballers and their parents. Most of them didn't turn up until well after half time. There were equivalent empty blocks in the Holte End. They weren't fully empty though, as fans who'd got odd seats sat in groups there until the McDonalds people started to arrive.

Also, quite a significant number (800, compared to 700 for recent Charity Shields at Wembley) of tickets were given to members of the armed forces. I guess a lot of these weren't taken up, or the people who got them didn't attend, for a number of reasons.

Was gonna ask the same.

I had a pretty good view of the aftermath. A load of stewards restrained one guy, and the zippy fella was either crouching, sitting or lying on the floor, as he only emerged above the hoardings (headless), once the police arrived. Both of them were taken away. My guess is some kind of fight, but I don't know who instigated it, or what exactly happened.

Only saw the latter part of what occurred as the two of them, Zippy and another guy, were being led away. Zippy lunged and tried to throw several punches at the other guy and about 6 stewards decked the former Rainbow star and restrained him. They were then both led away. Zippy sans his mask but with his gloves and suit still intact.
