He is but a fair amount of what he said is right. Typical of TS to get defensive and try to turn the argument around even though admitting they do much of what they do just to get reaction.

For me though it was just good to hear somebody having a go at Goldstein who I dislike as much as anyone I can think of on radio or tv.

Which part of it was right Doug?

I can't stand Goldstein or Jacobs but I'm 100% behind them on this one, Beasley is an odious little turd. Hopefully he follows up on his new found love for all things Olympics and fucks off to cover the Kazakhstan women's curling team and leaves the football alone.

Beasley makes a comfortable living out of football. Talk about biting the hand that feeds.
I was starting to fall for this nonsense about The Olympics, but whilst I enjoyed lots of it and the feel good factor, who ever got passionate following dressage or clay pigeon shooting? It's been great fun and highly commendable, but if Athletics was that good, Crystal Palace, Gateshead and Don Valley would be packed to the rafters every week. But they're not are they? There's more empty seats than the piggery at 80 minutes.
City and sniffing knickers.
Come on Blues.

It had occurred to me as well that we can have so many fans day in day out that were so well behaved.Masses of screaming and cheering without the need for profanity etc etc and then football comes along and we get all the usual that football fans provide.

On the other side of course both TS and the written media do anything they can i.e.talk or write drivel just to get the fans wound up and reacting.

That Rob guys sounds like a proper dick.

This link has reminded me that I have boycotted The Sun. But I can't recall exactly what happened last season to trigger such a step. Anyone help me out by suggesting anything specific they did/covered that may have pissed me off. Hopefully that Rob was involved so I can cover two birds with one stone.

It's not really comparable though, the Olympics comes round once every 4 years, every 50 years to this country and people are going to support nations rather than clubs. How much swearing from fans and bad behaviour do you see at the World Cup for instance compared to your average premier league game?

If athletics and swimming and the other sports you see at the olympics were team based, on every week for 9 months of the year and each meeting was worth as much to the individuals as the premier league is then the behaviour would be no different.

The olympics was great but it wasn't without it's problems either and anything negative was brushed under the carpet. In the space of two weeks, we've seen medals repealed for drug offences, chinese badminton players throwing games to affect draws, intentional crashes in cycling to get the race re-started, an Australian rower deported for getting drunk and trashing a pub and a bottle thrown from the crowd at the 100m athletes.

There's problems with any sports and it pisses me off when twats like Beasley de-cry football even though it does so much right and he has made a living off it for the past 30 years. If journalists delved into the personal lives of athletes in the same way as they did footballers I'm sure a lot more would come out in addition to the above.

I would like to see less diving, feigning injury, sniping at refs but that's bound to happen when the stakes are so high and you can be sure that athletes would be trying every trick in the book to gain an advantage if the financial rewards were as great as they are in football.
