Kompany injured - out of Belgian squad

Postby xavi6 » Tue Aug 14, 2012 10:23 am

Calf injury again apparently, didn't train today. Hopefully it's just a sensible precaution ahead of Sunday.

Shouldn't be having international friendlies a few days before the season kick off anyway but that's another thread.

It's funny how everyones getting injured just before the season starts. Obvious ploy.

It's the 3rd time that injury has been an issue since pre season started. A slight concern but I am sure on this occasion it's more a precaution than anything.

I wish Khaldoon would let Marwood ask Bobby about some CB targets.

Maybe Slavic and Kolo on the opening day of the season will make some folks feel good about tings.

Well it looks like Bob wants Agger & we my have to decide if we want to pay far far to much money for him, which is already the case at £20 mil imo. I suppose he'd suit that 3 at the back lark though tbf. But so might Rekik if we'd played him v Chelsea rather than Bozo.

I genuinely believe Rekik could fit into the team already and look pretty good if we played a back three.

I just can't imagine Agger at 20m let alone 27m.

Boyata or Rekik? We'd all prefer Rekik I think but I can't imagine Roberto playing him yet. He wants to ease him in like a new pair of dress shoes.

Whatsoever the extent of the injury is - hopefully very light - I blame Mancini for having started him in a friendly game (pot or not!).
You singled out that in the CS match thread and time has shown You were wise and spot on.

He played the entire 90 mins at Villa Pk so sounds to me like it's precautionary and we're just being careful

Any news on how serious Hart's injury is?

As the season progresses, expect another magic trick with a defensive midfielder, bit like the Kompany one when they turned a defensive midfielder into the worlds best central defender. Step forward Rodwell!

The medical team will have told Mancini whether VK needed a full 90 mins or not, bearing in mind he has missed some games and some work in the pre-season. I doubt Mancini would have gone against their advice for a game that wasn't that important.

I was certain You would have replied that, second best mr. Reliable... ;)
still I would have given Vinnie a further recovery week and took the occasion to further trial Kolo or a youngster.
perhaps just a 1% risk, but a risk that I would have not taken for the Charity Shield, imo.

I think bob has learned from throwing Boyata in vs Arse a few seasons ago (when he was sent off after 5 mins). It seemed to crush Boyata's confidence for the next 6 months. Would be best to ease Rekik in

Won't matter until Liverpool. Lescott and kolo are more than capable of dealing with a newly promoted Southampton at home.
