What to do? (Southampton game)

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

What to do? (Southampton game)

Postby AG7 » Thu Aug 16, 2012 2:28 am

Yup, yet another thread ... but sorry guys, not trying to break any records here, just think these all deserve separate discussions ... this one however is something I need help/advice with:

I was thinking of attending the Saints game but wasn't sure if I'd even be in the country that day, then by the time I got my schedule arranged, the tickets had ran out before I got around to getting my usual three (for myself, mrs. and my boy) ... now luckily I've won two tickets today morning for two adults so that takes care of me and the mrs. but what to do with the boy?

Can't leave him at home, its Sunday, finding a baby sitter last minute is an issue, plus it's 4 hours drive for me, 3 for the game and getting in and out and another 4 back so can't really leave him behind for 11-12 hours. I normally stay the night in Manchester when I come up for the games ... so question is, does any one have a spare ticket? Even a child one will do. The tickets I've got a are Tier 1 in Block 142 (and for some reason they are not together but in front and behind one another split in two rows; don't ask me why or how that is) ... so first I thought of picking another ticket up in the new viagogo ticket exchange the club has started for platinum guys selling theirs, but can't find any in Block 142, or even close by. So an option is I buy a ticket elsewhere and let my boy sit with his mom (and they'll have to negotiate a seat change with someone there anyway to get in the same row) or maybe I can sit with him and give her the ticket to go sit on her own ... but really, I'd rather if I can get three tickets together ...

So does anyone here know if anyone is selling their junior ticket? or I'll have to dish out for the full adult one, and if anyone ideally has two adults and a child together and the child is not going, I'll be happy to swap with them and pay for the third ticket? Or worst case, any hotel in Manchester where I can check-in and arrange for a baby sitter to stay back with the boy while me and mrs. watch City kick-off the season? Why I am not so keen on this option, one I won't know any sitters with references in town plus I doubt he will stay back with someone new at a new place too ... last thing I want is getting calls during the game and having to leave for this ...

What to do? Any other options than the obvious stated above? Help!
Oh, and wife's not really happy to keep the baby and let me find a friend to go with ... so that option has already been struck out.

Take him with you in the car and chloroform him while you go and watch the match. Better crack a window slightly though, if it's a warm day.

that's actually sound advice, and, as Soccs is probably acutely aware, it worked for a young woman who lived in my little town here in Florida a few years back. I mean, the baby died, but she's free as a bird, so...it's all relative i suppose.

Keep 'em comin!

I bet she forgot to crack the window - that's the key to modern parenting.

If the child is below the age of 6 years, shove the kid up the wife's jumper (ensure you tuck the legs in) and tell the steward that she's pregnant.
If the child is over 6 years...do similar, (you may have to remove the legs completely) and tell the steward that she is heavily pregnant.

Alternatively, you could give the tickets away and spend the afternoon starting new and interesting treads on here.

And this is why we are known as 'The caring forum'.

Has KK got the Mancityfans creche operational yet ?

Then all you have to do is leave the child in front of a computer during the match thread. Both entertaining & educational.

has it occurred to you to leave your missus at home?

Now I've solved that one:

a farmer (who is for comic effect in a boat) has a dog, a chicken and a bag of oats and he needs to get across a river.............
Never criticise a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.
And you'll have his shoes.

Does he need to get the dog, chicken & bag of oats across the river, or is he wondering what to do with them whilst he goes across the river ?

No, but that would only matter, if either it was too small for the farmer, or he needed to get the dog chicken & bag of oats in the boat as well. In which case, he could stuff the oats in the chicken, the chicken in the dog & put both in the bag on his knee.

Leave the Mrs at home? Doh?

Bring the Mrs. She can mind the car while you are at the game and then drive by the front gate to pick you up after the match.

She can have a little snooze during the game so she is ready for the drive home and you can have a couple of beers during the game.

People make things so complicated!

edit...if she needs somewhere to park might I take this opportunity to plug a new venture I have set up
MMM.MAN-CITY-FANS-PARKING.COM......oh never mind

you're not a farmer are you?

Gratuitous farmer joke.

A homeless man stops at a farmhouse to beg to spend the night. The farmer answers the door and says "Sure, we can put you up."
The vagrant washes up for dinner and meets the family downstairs. Sitting at the dinner table are the farmer, his wife, their son, and a gigantic pig who is sitting at the table like a human. Throughout the meal the vagrant tries not to stare at the pig, who sports three medals around his neck, as well as a wooden leg.
Finally, he can contain his curiosity no longer. He asks "Would you mind telling me about the bronze medal around your pig's neck?"
The farmer says "Sure. It's really an incredible story. Little Timmy here was swimming in the lake when he got a cramp and started to drown. This pig heard his cries for help, busted out of his pen, ran to the lake, and saved our son's life. So, we gave him the medal."
The vagrant is amazed and says "Well, how about that silver medal?"
The farmer says "A few months ago our house caught fire in the middle of the night while we were all sleeping. This pig saw the flames, busted out of his pen and ran into the house, waking us up in time. To show our gratitude we gave him that silver medal."
The homeless man says "While I'm at it, I might as well ask you about the gold medal."
The farmer says "My wife was attacked by a burglar several weeks ago. This pig heard her cries, busted out of his pen, and chased that man far away. To show my thanks I gave him that gold medal"
The homeless man sits in awe of the pig, who is blithely eating his meal with a knife and fork. He asks "What about the wooden leg?"
The farmer says "Well, you don't eat a pig like THAT all at once!"
