Now I don't want to get my hopes up but it is being reported that his agent has held talks with Manchester City.

'Sky Sources Understand'.....

...fuck that. Sadly I don't think it's gonna happen. He shares the same agent as Kolarov too so it could quite easily be that.

Yes please.

Just this once i hope Sky actually do understand.

I do believe he is Bob's number 1 target but have my doubts as to his attainability.Proper hero at Roma and it would be a minor miracle to convince him to leave a club he no doubt loves.

Here's the Sky's story:

City eye De Rossi
Italian midfielder's agent flies into the United Kingdom for talks
By Pete O'Rourke

Sky Sports understands Manchester City are stepping up their interest in Daniele De Rossi after the midfielder's agent on Thursday flew to England for talks.

The Italy international has long been linked with a move to Etihad Stadium and his impressive performances at Euro 2012 only underlined his ability and versatility.

De Rossi on Wednesday night delivered another good display in Italy's friendly defeat by England and he could yet become more familiar with British opponents.

The Roma star's representative jetted into the United Kingdom for discussions with City and the development comes just days after the Premier League champions signed Jack Rodwell.

City boss Roberto Mancini has been frustrated by his club's comparatively limited activity in the market ahead of their first game of the new season against Southampton on Sunday.

But if Mancini was able to sign his fellow Italian, De Rossi, he would have little cause to complain about the acquisition of such a top player.

The 29-year-old's future has constantly been a subject of debate but, earlier in August, Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini said: "If a monstrous bid materialised we would evaluate it.

"But we are not looking for buyers for Daniele, because he is a pillar of our team."

And in another news Scott Sinclair has RVP'd Swansea (read: turned down a new contract with his club) and City could now grab him for as little as £5million.

This frankly to me sounds more doable and in the works than De Rossi ...

Angry birds: Man City target Sinclair turns down new Swansea contract
A £5million move to the champions looms for the Team GB midfielder who is in the final year of his current deal

Scott Sinclair has put Manchester City on red alert by refusing to sign a new deal at Swansea.

The Premier League champions are keen on snapping up Great Britain Olympic midfielder Sinclair, who has also attracted interest from Tottenham and Liverpool.

The 23-year-old is into the final year of his current contract, and could now go for around £5million after delivering the bombshell news to the Welsh club on the eve of the new season.

New Swansea boss Michael Laudrup said: “I have spoken to Scott and he confirmed to me what he said to the chairman that he won’t sign a new contract. I don’t know how official it is, but there is interest from a big club in Scott. (Man City) is the name that is always coming up. I can only say about Scott is he was important to this team last season and in the Championship. He scores goals and goals are very important. It’s a possibility (he will be sold) but the only thing that matters to me at the moment is Saturday.”

Swansea, who kick-off their second Premier League campaign at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, will publicly play hardball to get the best price for Sinclair. But the reality is they cannot risk losing their most valued player for nothing next summer.

Laudrup, who is set to replace Sinclair with Valencia’s Pablo Hernandez, is also signing Arsenal centre-back Kyle Bartley in a £1m deal. Bartley, 21, was on loan at Scottish giants Rangers last season.

As I told countless times:
a) ALL Italian Clubs are bloody SKINT : i.e. something from euro 25 mils. above are ENORMOUS money.
b) De Rossi is a world top player, going towards his career end having won f**k all at Club level (2 Coppa Italia = 1/2 FA cup)
c) since rumours of City's interest have grown, he has spoke no word to chill it or to calm down fans concerns.

IF, Marwood has already been put in the place where he belongs (the doghouse) the only serious issue that I can see might prevent a happy end is an eventual demand for over-inflated wages and bonuses (in which case, he and his agent can right f**k off!)

let's see

1. "unintelligible language"
2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

Interesting abc, those points are all very valid. It does make me wonder could circumstances force this transfer?

I just can't help but feel him being Roman, it would always make the move so very difficult to materalise from both a club and player perspective.

that true. He's Roman breed and born (Core de Roma as they use to say), he was born giallorosso and went through their accademy: it's all good and very true, mate.
But it's also true that he had always been quick, all career long, to hush any rumour concerning his departure from Roma and this time he has said nothing. Plus, he always said he loves the idea to challenge himself in the Prem, he has a character very similar to English player and, MOST importantly this his the LAST call for top honours.

I am not saying that it's a done deal, I know bloody nothing and hate ITKs, but there is plenty of reasons to think positive...

Also worth noting that before the England game in the euros he said how keen he was to play prem footy one day....

Gareth Barry, Yaya Toure, James Milner, Nigel de Jong, Jack Rodwell....Daniele de Rossi?

Anyone else think we've got central midfield pretty much covered and then some without him?

I said it a few weeks back but I really think we will land De Rossi. It's now or never for Mancini.

Mate,
IF we land De Rossi is because Mancini has been entrusted to his way, hence:
a) Nigel will be sold before becoming a free agent. The Club won't sanction his OTT wages demand for renewal, he knows it and he's trying to run his path towards the free agent status.
b) Jack Rodwell will be coached to become a versatile CB.
c) My beloved Gaz Baz and his fitness status is a huge question mark

Milner is playing Right wing back too mainly at the moment. Bearing in mind that Richards is out for 10 weeks, and both him and Zaba are liable for knocks, Milner could be playing there quite regularly.

Nigel being sold I can see, he is hugely popular here and Bob probably got his name on the new shirt, condemning him to being sold. Rodwell I think would be the replacement for Barry eventually but as a CB in that 3-5-2 system maybe we should have bought a round peg, not like we're short on funds. And Barry I don't even think we can call underrated in our squad because a lot of us rate him very highly.
