Fair money for both Roma and DDR right? No way Roma accepts that though...

why not?

didn't he just sign a huge contract with them with a monstrous release clause and
they recently claimed he was worth 100m. why should they sell?

Like other Italian clubs, they haven't got a pot to piss in. They will seriously consider any reasonable offer for any player.

I can't see any way these will all be happy competing for a place in the team irrespective of how many competitions we will play in. So something will have to give.

I fear A Jonno will be on his way - he has said he wants to discuss his future with the management and the fact hee needs games in order to become a regular for England. I know there are plenty who feel he could put more of a shift in, but I would hate to see him playing elsewhere in the prem.

You forgot the possibility of young Suarez coming through also.
I agree with you that AJ will probably go, especially if Sinclair comes. I also think NDJ will go, which will be a shame as I suspect we all have a soft spot him.

Mancini is being very cagey about this but he's certainly not denying an interest.

It will be a shame in lots of ways if AJ goes but I can understand both why Mancini may sanction this (ie. Johnson hasn't performed consistently enough when given chances and it still seems likely that there is some kind of "issue" between them which is why Johnson doesn't get much opportunity and comes in for so much public "tough love") and why Johnson may indeed wish to pursue his career elsewhere (ie. playing time, a system and manager that suits him and more chance of staking his claim for England).

NdJ I'd be very sad to see go as I love Nigel as a character and for what he brings to the team. That said, there can be no room for sentiment and if we brought in De Rossi as a genuine top level upgrade and have already brought in Rodwell then, in light of Nigel's contract dispute, I think he will be for the exit door. The good thing is that there really should be no shortage of suitors willing to pay a decent fee for the wrinkly dog!

Totally agree Ant.Nigel will be hard to replace on the training ground and in the changing room as well as on the pitch but at least in DDR I would say we have his equal if not a slightly better all round player on the pitch.

I will miss the fun he brings to training.

I thought the England game the other night summed Johnson up pretty well. Great touches of brilliance but defensively weak and seemed to be anoymous for long periods. Mancini's always been critical of his defensive efforts and is probably struggling to see any future improvement. I think its a shame if he goes as he offers us a different option but he did tend to shine in games that had already been won last season.

I have read lots on how Johnson had a good game going forward (we all know he struggles tracking back), but I disagree. What I remember him doing is trying long cross field passes that were intercepted, standing in a position in the middle of 5 Italian players where if he was passed to he would lose it, and when he did try and take on defenders 95% of the time he lost it.
I'm not saying he's a bad player, but he's not as good as he thinks he is. Bob is trying to help him, and he needs to listen or let him go.

He can't improve or be effective unless he tries to do stuff. If he just passes the ball back to whoever gave it him & runs round tackling people, there is no point in him existing. He has to try & beat players & create chances in order to get better at it. When you do that, you often lose the ball but AJ usually succeeds in doing something in each game which creates a chance either by a direct assist, breaking the defensive line with a pass or scoring himself.

In the present City set up he is very restricted & someone like Valencia would be a much better fit (or Milner if he plays like he has pre season).

That's 10 players over 21 for a 5 man midfield. About right in a squad of 25. I'd even say we could add 1.
I really don't think the club want Nigel out but may respect his wish if he wants out.
For me these lads are lucky to be in a great squad in great comps and with the chance (some of them) to play only 30 odd games keeping them fresh for World Cup qualifiers.
I hope Nigel sees it that way.
Johnson too actually.
and there may even be a spot for Michael :)

Agreed. I'd be OK with both going on loans. AJ because he's got something and Savic because he's a liability.

I have but maybe not a great deal. But I rate Nigel very highly and maybe you don't as much plus I would always hold back a little on a player until he has shown what he can do in the premier league.DDR looks a quality player for sure but we will see just how good maybe soon.

Bayern denied that immediately as far as I know.

Barca were supposed to be in for him though & he wanted to sign for Barca. I don't know if that is still the case (especially if they have actually been watching him play) but if it is, we are wasting our time.

Put it this way; I've got an Italian mate who I went to school with who's is a big rag. Spoke to him yesterday and he said if we get De Rossi united won't have a chance with the league. Even with RVP. He rates DDR that highly.

Edit: RE- Nigel. I loved the guy when he first came here. I still do really. But in my opinion he's just a get the ball back and give it to someone else type of player. And don't get me wrong, every team needs those players. But if we could get someone like DDR who's as good at getting the ball back but also better at using the ball as well then its a no brainer for me.
I still can't forget when Nige bottled it against Welbeck in the FA Cup last year. If it was a mistake I could forgive him, but he genuinely just bottled it. I still love the guy though.
