Ladyboy strikes again.

EXCLUSIVE: City could lose Silva as contract talks stutter over £200,000 a week wage demands

Manchester City's contract talks with David Silva have faltered because of the Spanish winger's contract demands.

Silva has two years to run on the £130,000-a-week deal he signed when he moved to the Etihad two summers ago.

Stuttering: David Silva's new contract talks have faltered due to his high wage demands

The World Cup and European Championship winner wants to be paid more than £200,000 a week and parity with the club's top earners Yaya Toure and Carlos Tevez.

But City have refused to go that far as they seek to streamline the club ahead of the implementation of UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules.

City want to tie Silva down to a new long-term deal as he has been one of manager Roberto Mancini's most important players.

The playmaker dazzled last season for Manchester City and helped Spain to the European Championship trophy this summer

It is understood club officials are prepared to go against their usual policy of not negotiating contracts during the season to try to reach an agreement with him.

Meanwhile, City are set for some bad news from Rome today as transfer target Daniele De Rossi is due to hold a press conference.

City fear De Rossi will reveal his intentions to stay at Roma and reject the Premier League champions' advances.

More positively, City have bid £5million for Swansea winger Scott Sinclair and the deal is expected to be completed in the coming days.

Must admit that I'm slightly concerned that all the talk of him signing went quiet. We must try to avoid the situation Arse found themselves in with Van Persil, or we have with NDJ.

They had planned to use the 'Aguero to Madrid' story today, but his injury makes that one look dubious, so they quickly hashed this together. Once the rags lost, they had to do something to cover it up.

I'm surprised they didn't go for 'City to lose talismanic skipper as Kompany only agrees to extend contract to six years'

Here's Mark Ogden's attempt.

Notice the use of old quotes, supposition & a total lack of any substance, to create a story purely designed to worry City fans.

You basically have a player saying he wants to stay, a club saying they are negotiating & new deal & happy to see it through to its conclusion & the headline was about 'making City sweat'.

Plus, the way he uses the 'struggle to adapt' to the climate, to hint that Silva isn't happy BULLSHIT & throws Barca into the equation. Purely designed to create worry amongst the flapping moron element.

David Silva is holding out for a contract that would put him up alongside Manchester City’s £200,000-a-week top earners before committing to a new long-term deal at the Etihad Stadium.

City and the 26-year-old midfielder’s advisers have yet to reach an agreement on new terms, despite discussions between the two parties stretching back to June. Senior figures at City insisted that there were no concerns over Silva’s future and that they remained hopeful of a deal being struck to secure the Spain international to a long-term contract at the club.

But negotiations are now likely to continue into the new season following the failure to thrash out an agreement with Silva, who has excelled at City since arriving from Valencia in a £24?million transfer in June 2010.

Speaking after his involvement in Spain’s victorious Euro 2012 campaign, Silva suggested that discussions with City were close to reaching a conclusion, saying at the time: “My agents are negotiating a new deal with City and I think it’s likely we will close it in a very short time.”

Having signed a £130,000-a-week deal at City when he arrived from Valencia, however, Silva’s emergence as a key figure in Roberto Mancini’s team has left the player and his representatives looking to secure parity with the likes of Yaya Touré and Carlos Tévez.

City shelved contract talks with Dutch midfielder Nigel de Jong last summer because of a failure to meet the player’s wage demands, but it is understood that negotiations with Silva and his representatives will continue.

Silva, who has admitted he has struggled to adapt to the Mancunian climate, is open to extending his stay at the club, despite sources in Spain claiming that he has been identified by Barcelona as a long-term successor to 32-year-old playmaker Xavi.

Having adopted a policy of not opening contract negotiations during a season, and with Silva’s deal not expiring until June 2014, City are prepared to continue talks until they reach a successful conclusion.
