What we do know is that the club wanted to sell before they bought big. Dzeko's departure has been mentioned too often for it not to be at least a possibility and Adebayor has now gone. A lot of people here are surprised that Mancini wanted a striker but he clearly wanted Van Persie and he clearly rates Cavani. I think he's a terrific player and on the evidence of last season better than Dzeko.

For me though I think we need a quality centre back to provide competition to Lescott in particular and a defensive midfielder who can supply more penetrating ball from a deep position than De Jong. Martinez could have provided two for the price of one but for me De Rossi is a real disappointment. What a combination he and Yaya would be in the CL and the Premiership for that matter.

I still hope one of them will come.

Certainly that is much better than a repeated picture of Greggs....

I believe that we have two types of player we are after, squad strengthening and players that will enhance our chances in CL.

Whilst I understand the ridicule of the original source, I too like you, can see that we have genuinely going after the likes Cavani and until I hear officially that we aren't I will remain open minded, even if others think I am being naive.

Maybe it's just me, but when we are in a straight fight with either the Rags or Chelsea, we always seem to lose out. OK Nasri may have been the exception, and I'm not saying we are interested in Cavani, but won't it be so refreshing when we hear that "Manchester City are the favoured club" in a race with those other two?

Tevez, Silva, Aguero, Yaya. If you believe the press. That's why they all have to be on £4bn a week, otherwise there's no reason the press can explain why they chose us

Sell Edin for 20 and Adebayor if there is no wings i dont know why is keeping them and buy Cavani he will fit in this tika taka Edin can score like last season 15 maybe 20 goals depends how much he play but Cavani would score more in this style of football , Edin score 36 goals in Wolfsburg because they have good wingers and players with good deep balls here hes City come and play araund goal on 30 meters and if there is no cross there is not much he can do but still he can score 20 on individuality and some cross evry other game. Its jus math , Cavani i better fit.

For news on Cavani that I started this thread with, go to http://twitter.com/agent_153

News today from this source of information is that Chelsea have outbid us and we have yet to table another bid.

As I outlined at the start, I started this thread because I was excited about us getting Cavani and believed this info on twitter because he has got so many deals correct this summer prior to the media announcing it. Coincidence? Possibly but it seems to have happened too many times for that.

Sorry, the twitter guy is a complete liar.

He was attacked today by several very well informed journos as being a complete bullshit merchant.

Besides if you were involved in these sort of deals do you really think you would risk your potential (huge) agent sell on fees by spreading it all over twitter? Not a chance.

I do like the way his claim to fame was van Persie, and that was the worst kept secret in football. Wonder if we tabled a bid for De Rossi according to him, even DDR said we didn't(making his grandiose press conference a bit of a DDR/Roma wankfest).

I few weeks back he claimed the RVP would be announced on the Sunday for sure as he had worked on the deal and if it wasn't he would up and quit twitter... he wasn't announced... he left twitter for 3 days then magically came back.

Next he'll have breaking news that we're signing Scott Sinclair.

Wait, have we signed him yet? And how the fuck did Joe Allen end up at that shithouse instead of City? Better signing than the rest of their English overpriced midfield for less money too. Fucking boat, missed.

Can we set up a permanent thread for Twitter 'news' so that any info taken from there can be in one place?

That way, all those who use Twitter as a genuine news source because some random person puts up a comment which may or may not be true can all discuss it together.

Twitter takes tabloid reporting to a whole new level and it astounds me that so many people trawl through it and take what they read as genuine news.

Does the fact that he stated catagorically that City had a bid accepted, then that Cavani's wage demands would be outrageous, then that Chelsea have outbid us, not ring any alarm bells ?

The bloke (probably a child) is just making stuff up ffs.

It's funny to read, to see what bullshit he invents next, but that's all it is.

If City, Chelsea or nobody signs Cavani, he'll claim he called it first, as he's setting up a scenario for all 3. He'll probably bring Utd into the equation next (then he'll probably be involved in less 'meetings' next week as he'll be busy doing maths & geography etc).

I hate this mentality " buy every player that shows good performances through 1-2 seasons. "
Just because Cavani had a good season , two or three doesn't mean he will do well at City.
We have 4 TOP CLASS STRIKERS. Why do we need another one? If any of them do not play on the level simply just sell them and then buy new ones. I don't want city to turn into a club such as Real Madrid, who buy everything hot off a transfer market...This destroys players and is not fun. True, I want to win the titles, but not through this way. Another good point is the fact that our 4 strikers and the rest of the team need to create team chemistry by playing together - IF WE CONTINIOUSLY CONTINUE BRINGING NEW PLAYERS WE WILL BE A TEAM BASED MORE ON AN INDIVIDUAL LEVEL RATHER THAN A TEAM WITH GOOD STRATEGY AND CHEMISTRY...

Dzeko, Balotelli, Tevez and Aguero are class strikers and anyclub in the world would like to have any one of them.
