I agree, but for some reason Bob loves him after bringing him to Inter.

Whilst I'm not sure we need him, if Bob wants him, then I hope we get him. We either back the manager as much as we can afford or the Mail article starts to become true. We can't afford to go and sign Messi or replace the entire squad every season, but he needs to be given a reasonable budget to buy within and after that, if he wants to blow the whole lot on Jordan Henderson, we have to let him and then sack him when it goes badly wrong.

Play him as a winger?

With 3 at the back.

Good call.

Well, he can't defend, can he?

I see what you're saying mate.
But with the £30 million it will cost to get Maicon we could invest in an actual winger.

If we're going to use him as a wing-back I don't see why we can't use Milner and Richards there. Its literally a waste of money.

Here's a quote on ESPN ... Michael Owen says: "I have been in contact with quite a few teams and I definitely expect to be donning a new shirt quite soon. I hope it won't be too far from home."

Please let it not be a Sky Blue coloured one ... but what we pulled out on deadline day last year, with Hargreaves, I really hope we don't sign another Owen this time ... but with nothing much happening and nobody wanting to 'spend' too much this time around, this could be another one ... we were also linked with another free agent earlier, forgetting his name, that ex Real Madrid guy who is out of contract ...

What do you mean by not doing much?

It's quite simple really. Just list the teams that "did" us in the league last season and the two seasons before that.

Then divide by three.

I know it was for Luke, but I wouldn't say there is a team in the league that we can't beat. It all depends on if we turn up to games.
I think there are a lot of teams capable of taking points off each other. Our league is essentially the best due to the level of competition in it. We do have a top four, but that has been different in each of the last four seasons and teams are becoming more evenly matched.
Unlike the monotonous Spanish, German, French and Portuguese leagues where you know it's going to be one of two/three teams, ours is becoming even more unpredictable than ever.
