Swansea want Scott Sinclair future resolved
Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins wants the future of Manchester City target Scott Sinclair resolved before the transfer window closes.

The winger was left out of the Swans squad for Saturday's home game with West Ham United and has told the club he will not sign a new contract.

Reports suggested Swansea had accepted a bid from City but Jenkins said a deal had not been reached.

"We haven't actually agreed any deal with Man City at the moment," he said.

"I would have thought if they really wanted to sign Scott Sinclair they would have dealt with it a little bit better than they have. But that's their business.

"But it has dragged on too long and I hope one way or another it will be concluded the next couple of days."

Jenkins said manager Michael Laudrup is hoping to further strengthen his squad before the transfer window closes on Friday.

"Hopefully, over the next few days, we'll get a couple of more signings in and we can put the transfer window behind us at the end of the month," Jenkins said on Radio Wales Sport.

"Our proposed signing of a couple of players is not dependent on Scott's transfer out. I think it's more about numbers and making sure we have the right number in the squad."

It definitely won't be City who leaked this. City are tighter than they've ever been in regard to that kind of stuff.

If they have problems with it getting into the media, it's either their fault or the player's agent.

Edit: in fact, it was their manager, Laudrup who started outing City as being the club who were interested. Uptil then, it was just a rumour.

If we'd asked them to keep it under wraps, why is he gobbing off? And they wonder why we are now in no rush.

I don't understand why their manager made it public if there was no agreement. Everyone has taken his comments to mean Sinclair was about to sign, as if he knew it was happening. If turns out Sinclair is just a backup plan, they have unsettled their own player.

Are you sure? I seem to remember Winter been close during the Hughes/Cook era but haven't seen anything since. He will get the odd story when we want to release some positive PR but that's about it.

It was his 'espresso' comment that got me, inferring that he was the 'In Kid' and somehow giving his story more credibility. He says about Hazard, you or me could've told everyone the reason we didn't continue with him. And Pussy, he's not quite explained that one has he.

I'm sorry mate but it just reads to me like a dig at the club and in a roundabout way, further fanning the flames between Mancini and Marwood. Let's face it, Marwood will be living the high life, chinking the Champers while Mancini will be working his balls off to get the team ready for the weekend and said CL games.

I bet #leatherface has got Sinclair holed up in a Hulme Bedsit with taxi money to the Bridgwater in one hand a steak bake in the other.

It's absolutely the opposite mate. He's just pointing out that it's club policy, not Marwood policy, to tighten the purse strings & not have the piss taken out of us anymore. Winter is often the only bloke on the SKY hack's show to defend City & often, when he does so, he talks with authority about what the bosses are planning & their thinking behind it. He obviously gets briefed from time to time right from the top, which was also the case when Cook was there, hence his aggression when we sacked Hughes after telling him we wouldn't.

Nowardays that's forgotten & he's most definitely on our 'trusted' list. Not that he's a stooge, he'll still give his own views, but he gets info from the top, it's obvious in some of his comments.

To be fair mate, from what I've read from you and from what I've posted, either of us could've come up with that assessment and the matters of why we didn't sign certain players. Even the players he links to us are already out in the open.

Like I say, he may get the odd story but nothing suggests to me that he gets anything other than that. Winter is one of the better journalists, like Samual, and apart from his slapped-arseness over the Hughes sacking he always seems to have integrity in his stance. That's why we look at him as a decent writer, there aren't many of them out there.

We'll agree to disagree on this issue mate.

That's an article straight from Marwood, putting his side forward. And I want to know more about this coffee machine.

I'm not judging it on this piece, as anyone whos read Khaldoon's comments over the past year carefully enough would know it's club policy etc, I'm going more on what I've heard Winter say in conversations on TV & radio in recent times. He argues our case from a position of knowledge rather than guesswork; he's been briefed (again) by people above Marwood & Mancini.

I agree. Marwood has taken a kicking on here, Bluemoon and I imagine, all the other forums. I'd be surprised if he didn't occasionally visit places like this to see how the wind is blowing and if I was him I'd have been concerned that I was about to get the blame. Added to that, Mancini has had a couple of public digs.

Get some journo to put your point across completely off the record, so it looks like Winter's opinion.

Whatever the source, the end of the article was true - they're on the same side and need to show it. There still seems to be a lot of back room politics going on, not just from what the papers like to print, but Mancini's complaints as well. The sooner the new CEO is in place the better, as the club is just one thing Khaldoon is looking after and they seem to squabble like school kids every time he turns his back.

I am sure (IMO) that Marwood is conducting transfer policy consistent with the parameters given him by Khaldoon - Winter points out as an example why / when we backed out of (for example) the Hazard deal.

We have spent years educating the transfer market, media, clubs and agents that we are absolutely there to be taken. We now have to spend some time educating them differently - it will not happen by just a few statements - Cook and Hughes tried that to no avail.

Mind you, No CITY official (or one of any other club) actually does anything at these draw events. So I would hope that he is only there if there is not a need for him to be somewhere else trying to conclude a deal that sits within the parameters we have decided upon - and which I am sure (IMO) Bobby knows about.

I think the 'squabbling like schoolkids' stuff is an invention of the press designed to cause trouble, swallowed hook line & sinker by some City fans. Mancini would spend more money than the club, not Marwood; 'the club' want to & doesn't necessarily agree 100% with the policy but that is a lot different than 'squabbling like schoolkids'.

This is a counter to that, as the rag press will be seeking to use it again this week should we miss our targets. We have already had a blatant piece of lies about Mancini potentially resigning, once again deliberately put out there to stir up shit amongst City fans.

Winter may have been tipped off but he gets dropped bits of info from a higher level than Marwood.
