@OptaJoe: 15 - Theo Walcott has supplied 15 PL assists since Aug 2010; only four players (Nani, Silva, Young & RVP) have more in that period.

15 assists! Doesn't say much for the rest of the players if that's 5th best over two seasons.

This assist stat is bollox. Key passes in the final third to create a goal scoring opportunity would be fairer way to analyse how creative a player is. Assist is just the last person to touch the ball before the goalscorer. There's also all the times people miss sitters.

Assists are so "American" it's not even funny.

I'm happy for us to walk away and make a stand on this one. Let's face it were hardly dying for him to come and if we can show everyone we won't be raped anymore and Sinclair is the target we make that point over I'm fine with that.

Still I anxiously await yet another thread turning into pointless marwood posting. I suppose he's just filled cookies role as the back room boo boy.

To me, when I thought about it this morning there were two possible scenarios, one: Swansea started taking the piss & changed their requirements so we told them to fuck off, two: we are stalling on Sinclair because there is someone else we would rather have.

All joking apart, these Walcott links are worrying me to death.

i'd really rather have Sinclair, and that doesn't say much. the Arse would try and bleed us for 15M i bet, and wouldn't fit our team any better at all.

i think i posted that in another thread already, but....

also, #leatherface

I'm dreading it turning to Walcott on Thursday.

I'm not sure I can handle watching that fucking clown running off the end of the end of the pitch & disappearing into the crowd after failing to spot six players unmarked & hoofing the ball over the stand.

Yeah, these two threads should be merged into 'Part-time wingers we don't think we really want' thread.

Actually agree with the headless stuff about Walcott, and never really paid much attention to Sinclair last year - don't remember him standing out, though that whole team was pretty good, especially against us at theirs. Both sets of fans don't seem that arsed about their potential leaving.

AFAICT, what RM wants is a fast impact winger to come on and break the deadlock with 20 minutes ot go, a role AJ was unwilling to do and fair enough. Walcott might be the best option for this atm. Useless as a starting player as his decision-making is atrocious, and for someone who has played in the European Cup and for England, just how thick does he have to be? Or have managers just left him to it as he once scored a hat-trick for England, so , go on, do that again son?
All depends on the price of course. I think we'll take which ever is the cheaper of the two including wages but at least that puts us in the driving seat for a change. 7m for Walcott? He's still only 23.

Goals are made if your team has forwards. Assists are made if your team has an offence

Imo, Walcott is a shit striker rather than a shit wide player. He is played out of position.

Actually I think Walcott is potentially a good striker stifled by Wenger playing him as a winger.

He'd score for fun with players like Silva and Nasri putting deft little balls to his feet.

Corriere dello sport think we are very interested in Maicon and may well get him. Inter want Diarra and a swap to Madrid is a possibility but they think Inter will take our cash instead to help pay for him. Maicon would prefer Madrid but will accept a move here according to them.

Well I can't deny I think Wenger has ruined him, but whether even Bob can undo the damage Wenger has done is debatable & we already have 4 strikers (5 with Guidetti).

I defended marwood about 2 weeks ago (when we should have signed sinclair) - however to take all this time, only to have the bid rejected, proves the man doens't have a fucking clue what he's doing and I admit I was wrong
