Keep your shirt on, Tevez is told

By Charles Sale

The Premier League have written to Carlos Tevez and Manchester City warning them that the Argentina striker will be fined if he continues to pull up his shirt to display different messages on his vest, which the player has done after scoring in three successive games this season.

Tevez has been careful not to be booked while promoting three impoverished areas — Fuerte Apache, Lugano 1y 2 and Villa La Nata — around his family home in Buenos Aires by keeping the City jersey under his chin.

But the Premier League, who were suspicious that there might be a Cyprus holiday resort which is also called Villa La Nata, do not want Tevez to continue with this type of goalscoring celebration.

However, it is understood the Argentine is happy to carry on and pay a fine if necessary because the place names mean so much to him.

City will not want to rock the boat while things are going so well with Tevez.

You have got to be fucking joking.

The press always like to find a problem with Tevez, he will probably be in line for a 6 month ban if he carries on.

And why the Fuck would he need to advertise a Cyprus Holiday Resort, for the money?

And credit to him for not getting booked. He's not breaking any rules so they can fuck off.

Actually I could live without it.

Nasri did it too I believe, I think maybe we should concentrate on not dropping behind in football matches and less on displaying personal messages, it has to be somewhere in their heads while they are playing if they went to the effort of getting the shirt made up.

Seriously, the first thing I thought when I saw a player getting booked for taking off his shirt after scoring was "FUCK OFF, IT'S WHAT LADS FUCKING DO!!!!"

They're fucking ruining it I swear to God.

I wonder how many of the other City players are wearing messages, and we haven't seen them because they haven't scored?

The reason the fa stopped players taking their shirt off is because they were worried that there would be problems if players started getting advertisements on their undershirts. By letting tevez get away with it they are opening that issue back up so I guess they've got to take some sort of action (even though I still think its stupid)

Surely the easy way to do it is to slap somebody who does actually advertise something, with a £500k fine ?

Then the rest of the world can continue having a bit of fun when they score goals.

They stopped people taking their shirts off when that bellend Forlan took his off when he scored his one goal for the rags and he couldn't get it back on and was running around trying to tackle someone with his moobs out.

That's where the "lifting the shirt over your head" bit came from.

Thanks. Every day's a school day.

Imho, this rule is the most completely pathetic that this beaufiful game had.

Just an example, Sergio was booked for taking his shirt off after he scored with QPR. When players scored the most important goals of their life, they must take it slow, instead of having old school type of celebrations.

That is bollox.
