EDS v PSG

Lost 2 nil! Result flattered City. They were murdered!

Very little positive's in the game! Only hiwula and Suarez came claim any credit but they weren't great

Centre halves were awful! Alan kernaghan comparisons were raised!

Not one to criticise 18 year olds but Marcos Lopes was AWFUl!

I've got serious concerns about the acquisitions of some of these players

Lopes hasn't looked very good this season the couple of times I've seen him, maybe he still needs to settle in.

Lopez is nowhere near ready but is obviously talented.

We don't have a team though, just a selection of players. It will be difficult.

Lopes is also 16, playing against 18 and 19 year olds. just saying the sky might not be falling on him.

We don't need a team & aren't neccessarily looking to build one although that will probably happen naturally. It's purely about players.

I think the idea is to educate them in a way of playing similar to the first team though, hence whatshisface getting the boot and Mancini's man taking over.

If you'd have seen them tonight, you certainly wouldn't think they were being taught to play in teh same style as the first team. Lombardo is exceptionally quiet as a manger too. The PSG manager was constantly gesturing and vocalising his intent, instructions, constructive criticisms (I think, it was in French after all).

We weren't as cohesive or even as athletic as PSG, and though we missed some good chances, didn't deserve much.

Lopes was never in the game, contributing every so often with something pretty poor. Suares showed flashes now and again, but everyone looked a bit behind their opponent tonight. A few shocking, Skyrtlesque defensive howlers as well. A positive for me was Pozo, who came on with about fifteen to go or summat. Good touch, and some deft short balls, also a beautifully weighted through ball whcih we should defo have scored from. Looks like he might be a player.

Oh, and the chips and gravy was shit.

That's what I had hoped but there were no signs of it tonight.I was also surprised at how quiet Lombardo was.I don't need someone ranting and raving on the touchline but I did expect a little more help and advice coming from the bench.

I thought we were weak tonight and especially so in defence both individually and as a unit. Not totally surprised though when I saw Adam Drury at right back (and captain) when he is a natural right sided attacking player.Instead playing wide right was Lopes who is very very left footed.I wouldnt be too critical of Lopes as he is so young but he didnt seem to know how to get involved in that position.

Suarez did shine to a degree, especially in the first half, but a lot of the time he did run too much with the ball and lose it or just get the final ball wrong,Maybe he did that because his teammates just don't seem up to a real passing game.Huws in central midfield worked quite hard but didnt really offer anything attacking wise and I thought Evans was very poor.We did have chances and Drury missed the best ,blazing over with just the keeper to beat.Near the end Henshall missed a golden chance when fed by Glendon but he poked it wide with the outside of his left foot when a right foot shot was needed.

I didnt think PSG were great so it makes me worry whether we will struggle to get any points like last year.

Oh I agree eventually that is the aim but they have already stated that there may be a lot of swapping & changing in this team & that it could be a while before it starts to come together. There is an element of 'sink or swim' going on with some players like Lopez I believe.

I honestly don't understand what the big hype was about Lopes pre season, I watched him in al the game on your etc and he looked way way way out of his league. Doesn't look anything like a footballer yet.

It's because Bob & Plunty etc have watched him in training got excited about it but he is so far failing to reproduce it in games. Often however, it just clicks one day & off they go.

Thought Drury did well despite having to mark two all night, Lopes gave him no support all night. I don't think he's talented at all. He's lazy, slow, weak in the tackle, afraid of getting hurt.

Centre halves were poor, We joked that Kieron Kennedy better get used to the dimensions of Ewen Fields. Ellis Plummer didn't look much either. The defence as a whole was a shambles, its a great concern that a club the size of City cannot work on organisation with full time professionals.

Suarez was fine, he's clearly trying to do too much, releasing the ball too late, waiting to pass to players where they should be rather than where they are. Tactics seem to consist of give it Suarez to try and find Hiwula.

Hiwula was off side more times than Darren Huckerby, He did well up front on his own, finishing could have been better but got little service.

Centre midfield was non existent. I thought George Evans had a good game last week and out shone Gareth Barry, was garbage this week.

Doug mentioned Alex Henshall's chance at the end, he stopped a through ball dead from Suarez, great pace and wonderful first touch, awful finish. Would like to see more of him though.

PSG though were good, athletic, well organised, players who knew what the game plan was and stuck to it. Probably played together for years tbf.

If I was to guess I'd say a lot of PSG players would reach Ligue 1 (none at PSG) and I'd say at best Suarez has an outside chance with us.

Crowd was 800+

All down to shit management and team selection.
Lombardo is not the man.....mancini should not follows Hughes example bringing in mediocre people to train the youngsters.....
