Fucking bullshit. For that poxy fee we'd be just as well hanging on to him for the season to try consolidate our spot in the Champions League and win the league again.

Gutted he's going, love him as a player and seems a great bloke as well. Not impressed at all.

Need to rant more and get this shit off my chest....How the fuck have they let him go at that price? You fucking idiots, he's worth more than that fee on a seasons contribution alone. He's one of the worlds best at stifling opposition and killing attacks..Luv the guy to bits and will forver be a blue to me. City should not have let him go at that price whatever the circumstance...

Agree with almost everything in the thread, except the people trying to be positive and anyone talking about Neymar.

Awful deal, one of the worst since the takeover.

The question of whether we should have let him go at all is a good one. I would say no unless we have a replacement signed & then only if the replacement is substantially better. It will almost certainly bite us on the arse if we don't replace him. That's the law of football.

Having decided to part with him though, the fee was what any club was willing to pay. If nobody offers more & Bob wants rid, that's that.

I would be shocked if there isn't a player signed though. I don't think Mancini would risk it.

don't like nigel leaving, but always felt that mancini was never entirely comfortable with him in his system ... just my opinion.

I think at the moment transfer money spent/received is not the biggest concern for us, the concern is in cutting the wage bill. That's why he's gone out for as low as he has, in addition to it being the last year of his contract and the end of the transfer window. We may have tried to keep him, tried negotiating a new deal ... and for whatever reason got turned down. It then became "oh shit we have to sell him or get nothing" (not saying I agree with it).

Things are always a bit sketchy when dealing with an italian club, especially Milan. Maybe they had a word with his douche bag agent? Who knows.

There may be add-ons, there may not ... but I think we will have a replacement lined up, and it's looking like it will be this Garcia fellow. Don't know too much about him but it's obvious he is seen has having a bit better passing range/attacking ability, and seems to fit with bobby's desire to have a midfield made up of more "complete" players.

It's a sad day that nige is gone, but he gave his all for us and I thank him for everything he's done. Glad he was part of our team, and he looked like a great guy off the field. He'll become a legend in Milan if they aren't idiots.

Never particularly liked him as a player ("limited" is the word that springs to mind, as well as "can't pass"). If any player doesn't want to sign a new contract with the Champions of England, they can do one. We may miss him (though I doubt it) but what's done is done. Perhaps he chose his agent above his club. His choice.

Goodbye, NdJ, and thanks for the message to bingo, which in my opinion is your greatest contribution to the club.

Amongst all the comments this is the one I agree with the most.

Yes, the fee does seem very low - how come we could not get more?

But the bottom line is that he has tuened us down and (to be sort of fair to him) seen through what he said he would do when he joined - that he would move onto a bigger club from CITY - his words not my view.

I also raise an eyebrow at the fact it is Milan - bunch of low-life snakes. I would not be surprised if they have done some deal with his agent a long time ago but with an agreement to act to get the transfer fee down to improve the signing on fee. I actually wish we would just not do business with them.

Better defensive qualities than all of our central midfielders, if he is 'limited' it's in an offensive capacity but that's not really his job is it? I don't like this transfer, wasn't a fan of his "stepping stone" comment when he joined but he has done everything that was asked of him on the pitch. Unless DDR is coming I don't see this as a good move at all.

I was wondering if anyone else would remember that. I didn't imagine it then. Thank you.

Good luck to him on his next step up the ladder. He'll need a wider skill set than he already possesses if he wants to go any further up it though.

He's been absolutely massive for us and one of the players who's been part of the "New City" from day one.
He was fucking immense in the FA Cup semi against United, which in effect won us our first trophy in ages.

That said, he played a minor part last season, and I don't think we will miss him too much. I really like him personally, but we will get on without him (of course depending on who's brought in to replace him).

Playing Rodwell ahead of de Jong in the first league game of the season suddenly makes sense ...

Terrible decision this made even worse by the pathetic amount we are recieving for the lad. For me he is one of the best defensive midfielders around. Yes is passing has been suspect at times but think he improved this over the last few seasons perhaps as he had more options to pass to. I think he had a massive part to play in our champions league run. Away from home he should have been in the team every time. That said Mancini didnt use him very often in these game last season is I remember rightly. Time for Mr Rodwell to really step up now, and I hope he does.

Thanks Nige
