Players whose careers just disappeared

Postby Alioune DVToure » Fri Aug 31, 2012 12:21 pm

Franny Jeffers
Michael Ricketts
Lee Sharpe
Neil Mellor
Matt Jansen
Ian Harte (for a few years)
Seth Johnson
David Bentley

Any other good examples?

EDIT: In case you were wondering, yes this thread was inspired by the signing of Richard Wright.

The majority of players we sold in the 80's and 90's and some we bought!

Stoke, West Ham and Spurs I think. No idea where he is now. And what about Nery?

Michael Branch is an excellent example. I was thinking of players who've played at the top level, got tipped for stardom and then disappeared of the charts. Danny Cadamarteri is a similar case.

Mark Kennedy got a job as an undercover cozzer pretending to be an eco-warrior - and nailing a few of them in the process.

Christ he was absoloute garbage. I was expecting him to be a goal scoring machine.

Michael Johnson
Darren Caskey (remeber him, tipped for massive things, turned out to be utter shit)
Joseph yobo (i literally have no idea where this guy is now. i always thought he was pretty good)

Some names there....wow.

Wel you could start closer and say Richard Wright
Julian Joachim
Steffen Iversen
James Beattie
David Nugent
Anthony Gardner
Michael Ball (!)
Chris Powell
Luke Chadwick
Patrick Kluivert
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Berbatov...
In all seriousness he was absolutely wonderful for Spurs, started decently at Rags and then just faded into nothing.

Gardner and Joachim are good ones. Kluivert continued to play for big clubs (Newcastle, Valencia) - just not very well.

I watched Joachim for Darlo against Dale in the L2 play-off semi in 2008. He was shit.

Jodi Morris and Lee Hendrie are fantastic examples. Had you asked from just about anyone Ca 1999, they'd name those two as future of England midfield. Quite.

I love this thread mate. These names are awesome.

Darren Eadie was like last of his breed. 4-4-2 left winger if I ever saw one. You basically don't get completely one dimensional players like him at Premier League level anymore at all.
