Any chance of this being restricted to people who's decline was not initiated by a serious injury? All bar Bentley, Harte and Ricketts in the opening list were caused by injuries. If you knacker your knees up, your career doesn't just disappear, else Lakey would be number 1 on the list (whatever happened to him, eh?) Luke Chadwick is a good one. I think his was because he was around the same time as the better ones out of them lot, but unfortunately shit, and he was an ugly motherfucker.

Chris Kiwomya went to Arsenal and I swear he became Christopher Wreh

Darren Eadie was once one of the most promising prospects in english football, Leicester paid £3m for him

Oliver Dacourt

Mark Viduka

Ousmane Dabo

Hatem Trabelsi

Viduka played in the PL until he was about 34, didn't he?

What about Hernan Crespo. Had a decent year at Chelsea who then just loaned him to random clubs for 3 years.

Thinking about that? Juan Sebastian Veron

Apart from Dabo, I'm really not feeling these. I mean Dacourt was still doing reasonably well in Italy after he left Leeds. Viduka was still banging them in on reasonable frequency in Middlesbrough when he was past 30. Trabelsi's knees were done by the time he arrived to City after pretty illustrious career in Ajax and in international football. Even Lee Bowyer rebuilt his career and was playing pretty well for Birmingham despite never quite reaching his full potential.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I love this thread mate. These names are awesome.

Darren Eadie was like last of his breed. 4-4-2 left winger if I ever saw one. You basically don't get completely one dimensional players like him at Premier League level anymore at all.

He retired due to a very bad injury that kid. Hear him on Talksport every now and then, im sure he had a bad bout of depression after he stoppped playing.

Veron was apparently absolutely superb when he went back to argentina. Im certain he also got back into the national squad. Think he was at independiente

This guy for me is exact opposite of what is being looked at this topic. If my memory serves me he was close to 30 when he signed from Leeds having slowly built his career from African leagues via Germany. I remember he went back to Germany after his spell with Leeds and still did it and I'm almost 100% certain he was past 30 by that time.

Which Denilson? The 90s one or the one still hanging on at Arsenal?

I've seen Freddy Adu in action twice in the last few weeks at Philadelphia Union games. He is dire. Scored a penalty in the first game I went to but benched for the second.

Denilson is a great one. What the fuck happened there. He was the most expensive player in the world at one point

Kerlon is another that was tipped for great things
