Honestly... what a window!

Apart from NDJ, who are we gonna miss?

Sold oldies that were decent. Bought youngsters (hello fergie) who are almost as good with bags of potential. Perfect window for a league winning team. Shift out those who do not have the inspiration to build on last season, get in youngsters who are hungry.

I must say all in all a near-perfect window. RVP could have gone to Juve and NDJ could have stayed on but the buys we've done are sound and sensible investments, we've shifted alot of deadwood. Great job City hierarchy!

A week ago I was a tad worried. Right now i'm delighted. Another very good window from City.

Finally put to bed the Hughes era by shifting his dross, shifted the unhappy lads, youngsters and contract rebels, lost no quality and added to the quality we have.

Garcia will be a great signing, as will the cheap as chips Maicon. Rodders has the potential to do what he wants in the game and has great role models in our other CM's to help him achieve that.

Nastic and Sinclair could also pleasantly surprise us but should they not set the world on fire they still give us depth which is just as important.

So all in all...

Well done Marwood.

We have a lot riding on Nastasic. Lescott and Toure are in their 30s, we don't have the depth to wait for him. Hence why Savic was a problem.

We're going to need him soon enough and it's a lot to spend on a young player. I don't expect Toure to be here next season, so he has at most a season to ease himself in.

I think Garcia was brought in for being able to play both midfield and defence should we need him in that fucked up 3-5-2 system Bobby seems to like, he does seem to like the versatile players, something the Angry Midget cannot do.

He'll either get the system working or switch again

Fuck me, went on the Benfica forums and the way they describe him it sounds like we have bought the handsome charlie version of Danny Tiatto. I've seen him a few times and knew he was no shrinking violet but he sounds like an absolute powerhouse destroyer.

Strangely though... I like this thought. Just what we need for that 3-5-2!

I think bob wants to pick and choose formation as he pleases and now appears to have all the pieces for 2 or 3 different teams. Exciting times.

Rodwell could probably do a job there as well. We have a tall central midfield now and being that's where most of the goalkicks need a head on them, 6'1", 6'2" and 6'3", add to that Dzeko, Balo, Kompany, Lescott and the salmon that is Micah and we should score more from corners as well....SHOULD.

Sure. Plus Yaya was a holding midfielder before he came here. We may well be becoming more fluid.

Yaya was also a centrehalf.

I thought we needed attacking midfield help and cover for centerbacks. We got the latter but couldn't get the former. We were also gathering pieces for 5-3-2 wingback, the system that has been proven poor in world football time and time again.

Overall I thought it was ok in the end.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Ah - so this is the thread saying well done and thanks to the non-playing part of the CITY management team - I thought that there should be one.

I would just like to add my congratulations

In the end seems a job well done and still 'sensible' with regards to FFP

Mancini thinks Richards is made of glass as he gets injured a lot which is why he may have gone for Maicon

really pissed off with it TBH, its now 01/09/2012, we made 5 signings yesterday and were rushing to get pen to paper at the last minute, we have had since 13/05/2012..... Its fucking piss poor that we are 3 game sin today and we have 5 new players that will time to bed in, this is what pre-season is for.

^ This - the fact that we were buggering about with Garcia at nearly midnight is pretty shoddy - at least three wont train with us until after the international break and will take a while to bed in - Garcia being of particular concern as he is likely to be key of the five players we signed yesterday. It needs sorting so that our signings get a full pre-season, very poor form, can't help but think these lads weren't on List A.

You know what, you are probably right about the speed and timing of our transfers, but I can't wait to see Garcia hold our midfield and release yaya. I am also looking forward to see what Sinclair can do on our flanks. This young CB is going to be good with all the positive comments surrounding him as well.
