Aguero called up by argentina

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Aguero called up by argentina

Postby Wonderwall » Fri Aug 24, 2012 7:31 am

Why would they do that unless Sergio has given them the nod for games on 7th and 11th sept. I hope they see sense and don't try and rush him, it's not like they are short of options up front.

surely the club has to come out and deny that as he's injured?
if that little wonderboy does any damage to his knee there I'm gonna lose the plot big time

And what if we're playing mindgames of our own and he isn't actually injured. Anfield comes around on Sunday, they lost Agger and relax a little because they won't be facing Aguero....except they will! Dum dum dum! Plot thickens and all around there is an audible intake of breath.

Was worried about this, could turn out to be a nightmare scenario for us if he is selected to play.

He wont play, or even travel. He will be removed at the last minute, this sort of thing has happened before.

You remember Wanchope getting called up as he was recovering from injury, playing in the international and getting injured for another 8 months?

Yes. I remember Martin Petrov getting injured for quite a time while playing for Bulgaria too.

On the one hand, I would love to play football for my country and I imagine anyone having the opportunity would grasp it for all they were worth.

On the other hand, it is City.

It's nonsense. Leave him be and let him recover. Kun and city must both say no he's not ready.

I am sure they will relax when they see the team sheet: Tevez, silva, nasri, yaya - nothing to worry about there :-)

they've finally let him come home:

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/1154750

Roberto Mancini has got his wish with striker Sergio Aguero to return to Manchester without kicking a ball for Argentina.

Aguero, who has been sidelined with a knee injury since the opening day of the season, risked the wrath of his club boss after he joined up with his international team-mates for the World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Peru.

He did not travel with the squad to Cordoba for their 3-1 win over Paraguay on Friday, but was confident he would be fit to play in Lima on Tuesday.

However, Aguero has failed to shake off the injury in time and will now fly back to the UK from Buenos Aires to continue rehabilitation on his knee with the Manchester City medical staff.

"It seems I won't be able to make it to the Peru match - but the effort was still worth it," Aguero confirmed on his Twitter page. "I'll continue the recovery work at Manchester.

"Rooting for to the guys for the Peru match, I hope I can join them next time. Returning to @MCFC now to ready for the upcoming challenge."

I am still hopefull that it's merely down to the rights of any National Team to evaluate injuries with their own medicals, but I am really sickened since i read the 1st interview of Sergio on this. I can appreciate the national pride, but... as You said, it's not like they are short of options up front...

ops... I didnt scroll down enough to get Damaerto very pleasant updating. still I am sick that he travellled across the ocean meaningless

3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

This is the most pathetic situation that i've heard in the last years. I would had understood if Argentina had only Sergio as a striker, but when you have Tevez, Higuian, Stallone (Milito), Palacios and so on, a huge list, you could affort to let Kun have his rest and be fit when you play Brazil in the near future.

This is so wrong at so many levels that it's hard to explain. I think Sergio wants to play for them really bad, wants to defend his national flag, but he knew very well he couldn't be fit, but still he didn't said no from the start. He was afraid that refusing his national team, even in this conditions, will make their coach not to call him for the next games or ignore him completely.

Or he (and/or his family) just fancied going home for a bit. Can't blame him wanting to go home and see his mates, even if he can't take part in the match.

If any of you over in England could have a word with Woy and get me into the next squad, I'll buy you a half of mild.

And look at it from his point of view, with that kind of competition for a starting place he has to seem keen. Once out he might not get back in so easy.

It was the Argentinian FA who were being unreasonable. Why make him fly, it doesn't benefit anyone.
