Last Night's Ref: Damir Skomina

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Last Night's Ref: Damir Skomina

Postby Ted Hughes » Wed Sep 19, 2012 9:50 am

Tak a bow son, take a bow.

Amongst all that pressure, the only real bit of 'homer' type reffing i can think of was his yellow cards.

Other than that, he gave everything as he saw it & was not having most of Real's diving.

If Clattenburg had been in charge, Real would have had 47 free kicks around our penalty area as he would have given them everything, so they would have dived twice as much.

I was very worried about this pre match but Mr Skomina did probably the best job of reffing I've seen in a City game all season.

Should have given a yellow card to Varande for the challenge on Silva, otherwise he was fine and let the game flow more typically than most euro refs.

He was excellent Ted but he should have booked Varane for his foul on Silva imo.

Spot on.
I thought he had fantastic night.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

He had a very good game alright - bar Javi Garcia's yellow (which was ridiculous)

This

I don't think Varane's foul deserved a yellow tbh but compared to the yellow Gacia got a few minutes before it could have been ... Neither were yellow card offences thou imo

He did ok. Bottled it at the end of the game when the home crowd started voicing their discontent.

Not warning them for diving or the shirt pulling and ankle biting isn't good reffing for me. They fouled silva 4 or 5 times, he gave the odd free kick but no bookings or real warnings. Yaya was fouled a few times but because he stayed up it was ignored.

I was glad that silva came off because he was afforded no protection atall.

Kompany and Garcia collecting yellows may come back and bite us.
If he was going to "let the game flow" he should have kept both of those in his pocket

I'd have liked to see one or two of those fuckers booked for simulation, but was glad to see he didn't buy any of their amateur dramatics.

The first 15 minutes he had some weird decisions, but then i think he did ok.

Garcia's yellow was a huge mistake. I hope it won't cost us later.

Sensible thread by our always spot on main pundit.
With my little 5pc. I kept saying "this ref has some balls" almost all game long, and guessed a performance full of character since I've been informed of his appointment, even if, to be honest, I was not sure if I was actually referring to the same bloke I saw excelling in a couple of last season international games.

Take a bow, indeed. I am always delighted, for the sake of our beloved game, to credit referees when credit's due.

1. "unintelligible language"
2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

He went in with a straight leg and studs showing. Whilst I agree it shouldn't be a foul, it is these days. You don't even have to touch the player to be booked/ sent off if the force is deemed excessive or you're out of control. It was harsh but I can see why he gave it.

Overall a pretty good refereeing display - he allowed a lot to go which I expected a European ref to pull up, especially there

He done good. I expected more theatrics from Real but thankfully they behaved themselves.

We thought he was great, although comment was made at the time that if Garcia's was a yellow then consistency denotes that Varande's was as well.

I do like his "knock it the fuck off" hand gestures as well.
