Cheers John, now if you could just do the same for the other 18 keepers in the league, we can start to get an idea whether the stats are good or bad.

How many times has he been beaten to his left as opposed to his right this season, for club and country?

There's some feedback you could give them straight away; tell them their stats are shite.

Maybe they have the stats but don't want to publish them as it might help our opposition.

For those who don't know, the raw data contains every action of every player in every Prem game from last season. They are presented in an individual game format and each players' figures have to be extracted, organised, separated into home and away groups and then totalled up, to get them into the format I have posted. Many hours of trudging through rows and columns of numbers.
My idea is to post each individual City player in an easier to read/study format and let the brains go to work, studying individual player performance.
Next. I would like to post comparative lists between City players of similar positions and roles (eg strikers, full backs etc).
If there is time and I have still got breath left in me, It would be interesting to compare City players with players from other clubs.

I thought 1 player a week would keep the series going and give the board chance to study the figures and make conclusions.

Feel free to make suggestions.

City have made it plain that they want to create an analytics community to interact with each other and feedback the club. I think it's a great idea and know we have the brains on here to create our own community. It would be good for our site to be feeding back constructive info to the club. What being a supporter is all about...and now we have the chance and the invitation.

Is there a set of stats for the best player in the league in each position from last season ? That would give something for a comparison.

No Ted, Just a huge set of raw stats to disemble and play with yourself.

Try downloading them mate. Most useful footie thing I have ever come across. Great point of reference to dip into when assessing any player. Because they are in individual game format, you can also asses how a player may be improving (getting worse) over a sesason.

They also contain a code to decipher the tactical line-up that game, which allows you to look at player performances in the different formats and roles and how they were affected by the manager's tactics.

It's very tempting but I may lose the remaining, non football, parts of my life if I get stuck into that lot.

I'm really interested in this & I think it would be really useful to have a suggestion thread as to what would be useful info. Someone mentioned the other Goalie details as wells as Joe Hart as a comparison. THis kind of feedback is useful

Its a staggering amount of data, over 2 million cells, which is also going to be supplemented with updates from this season, as and when it progresses.

Gillie just got a new job based on his sig making skills. Who knows if one of us might get a gig at City by uncovering something remarkable.

Appreciate some people may mock & i`m aware stats dont show everything............but our club is doing this for a reason and this is a great platform for like minded people to share, which is kind of the point

All his goals conceded to his left that is freakishly worrying.

Or a coincidence. Not sure that was were Koswhatshisname was aiming on Sunday and nothing Hart or any other keeper could have done about it.

Same with Crouch last week - he burst through the area with a bit of juggling and toe poked it. Just coincidence that it was too the left.

Assuming most players will shoot across the keeper when it's a considered shot, does that mean the issue is more with the right side of midfield and defence?

As I said in the other thread; most players are right footed & defenders tend to stand in a position which blocks the near post, so it seems to me that most of the difficult shots Joe has to face from open play will go around him from the right side to his left.

Adam Johson will probably even his stats up a bit when we play Sunderland.
