A superb away performance. Lots of energy. Silva at his best, Barry calming everybody down, Kompany showing glimpses of last seasons form, and Zabba a constant threat on the right. For me Dzeko MOTM - the way he took his goal was World Class.

Poorest performance was Halsey - never a Fulham penalty and City should have had two. I thought Halsey was a City fan? Giving us those 5 minutes at Wembley?

Haven't seen this posted, so here's an interesting statistic concerning Halsey

14 - Today's win over Fulham was #MCFC's first win in the last 14 Premier League matches in which Mark Halsey has been their official.

Our last win in the league with this c**t refereeing was 7 years ago, in October 2005.
Roberto Mancini was the man who brought us our first trophy in 35 years. He was the man that brought us our first league title in 44 years. He brought us one of the greatest moments of our lives. He masterminded a 6-1 win at Old Trafford, and a Wembley win over United. He challenged Ferguson, he argued with him on the touchline, he brought success, and he punched the air in delight with the rest of us at the madness of it all. He had style, panache and a winning smile. All those memories he gave us will never be forgotten, in a wonderful period in this club’s long history.
And I swear, we’ll never see anything like it again.

I find that hard to believe. Not having a go at you, but that just cannot be right.

Whatever the statistics, that was a 2nd disgusting display from this shithead in the space of 8 days. There is something bent in football, for sure. The Fulham penalty was laughable. It is the sort of decision that, if you saw it in Italy, you would immediately know money was changing hands.

This's pretty much as I saw it as well. The champions' pride back, very good effort and energy shown, 1st seasonal actual presence of Merlin on the pitch, but overall circulation still too slow to break through a very well parked bus and few players still much rusty despite very positive effort and attitude (ditto: Sergio, Gael, Vinnie and Gareth). and yet not enough clinical on burying occasions.
I am very glad of the almost "clean sheet", if it wasn't for the presence of the Rag dressed in yellow.

I would be obliged to Ted if he could expand more on the very positive comments he posted about the quality of play, which I didn't get to that much extent. You know Mate, I am always keen to be enlightned by Your superior intelligent of football.

On the right path, nonetheless, and great confidence boost ahead the pivotal wednesday's game.

just watched motd, complete wankers, and I noticed how Barry made no effort to try and block a shot from some Fulham player, which Joe stopped, right after the handball claim against Pablo.

Barry has been like that on a few occasions, like not giving a fuck. like against the scum I think last season, in the cup.

Much more calm and rational effort including from the manager. But why send Balo on first. If Dzeko hadn't scored and we'd only got a point we would have rightly been screaming. Thoroughly enjoyable day out and massive steak at the Big Easy on Kings road which, even better, Tragic paid for,lol

They skipped over the penalty decision: 'because Mark Halsey has had a bad week'. The commentator said: 'City are not playing well' & any side could win it from here (Martin Jol said we got what we deserved). The stats come up: possession 50/50. I kid you not, the BBC put the possession as 50/50.

Then, after an excellent display by the champions of England in a match where they were handicapped by the ref, David Silva produces one of the best quality performances of the season so far by any player, so the highlights are...Vincent Kompany's mistakes, & then on to how wonderful Everton are. And there is no agenda ?

@ Mancio: a typical Barca performance away from home= City yesterday. Hunting the oppo down in their own half, quick passes, loads of players running at the defence. Wearing the oppo down with constant unrelenting pressure.

Also, in most of the games last year when we failed to break down packed defences away from home, we had huge possession, but the ball spent most of its time travelling around the outside of the oppo penalty area & most of City's players hung around outside there, consequently, we just passed the ball from side to side and were all screaming for shots & crosses which never came. Contrast that to yesterday, Zabba getting in from diagonals, balls threaded through to Tevez & Aguero, & crucially, when Tevez hits a hopeful shot, a queue of players all attacking the 6 yard box area to get on the end of any rebounds or deflections; Silva deflects it, Aguero scores. Last season we would be lucky if one player was alert to that. Most would be stood watching.

The goal Aguero scored was typical of the kind of goal Tevez would be involved in when he played for rags, either creating or scoring; not a perfect goal, just someone hitting the ball into the danger area & a lot of players being on hand to create a chance out of it. We often lacked that last season.

Barry was in the centre forward position more than once yesterday. We are clearly working on dominating the game in the oppo's half. I should imagine it will come badly unstuck sometimes as we try to perfect it, but I'll accept that, because if & when we do perfect it, we are Barca, but harder. Nobody in this country will be able to live with us.

That can't be right. No way could BBC be that far out with their stats. Not unless someone fixed it to make City look less impressive. But why would the Utd/Liverpool/Arsenal/Spurs etc supporting staff of the BBC Sports department do that ? Ridiculous to even think it.

Thanks Ted.
I saw a very decent performance and effort, perhaps I just failed to be that much impressed as You report.
More than glad to stand corrected by Your assessment of it. Perhaps was just my nice assaulting me on the couch from time to time that prevented me to have a proper understanding... ;)

Still not completely impressed by Bob, continuing to get off Tevez instead of Sergio (whose game fitness is still under refurbishment) and very much looking forward to see how he will react to Edin performances and commitment of late: I still have to digest the fact that Dzeko didn't started at Bernabeu and Britannia!
I have less problem with entering Mario ahead of him yesterday cuz, if nothing Mario is the most impact player we have on the team: I mean the one who can sort it out with a superb shot or a moment of pure brillance when he's on his days.
