What's wrong with Vincent Kompany?

On Match of the day yesterday Hansen highlighted just how badly Vinnie played. Wrong side of his man misjudged headers and notably bad careless distribution. This is not an isolated bad match. He's being playing poorly all season. I don't think we can write off Hansen as biased at least on this occasion. What's the right reaction to this?


Drop him for a few matches to show him that he's got to buck his ideas up.

Mancini should give him the hair dyer treatment but continue to play him.

Mancini should put his hand up and recognise that his fiddling about with a back three formation and changes in the back line is largely responsible for Kompany's dip in form and confidence.

Stop worrying about it. Form is temporary but class is permanent. Get back to our best settled back four which means Vinnie right and Lescott left and he'll be fine sooner rather than later.


I may try some more of these features seeing how Silva improved so much after my last thread!

Seem to recall reading somewhere that, apart from playing for over a decade for Liverpuddle, he grew up as a Scum fan, which makes him even more of a two faced, loathsome, cretinous retard to my eyes. Don't know if anyone else can confirm or refute this but his malevolent attitude towards City always shows that same Scum arrogance one sees in all their followers and boot-lickers.

However, for Vinnie's own good, as well as for the good of the team, I think we've got to bite the bullet and drop him. A few games out of the firing line might be enough to revitalise him (or give him a jolt which might act as a wake up call), although heaven knows what our results might be in the meantime.

On the whole, a few indifferent results might be worth it to get the "old Vinnie" back.

Agreed. I honestly feel he is suffering from last season. It took a lot out of our players and Vince took the brunt of all that was thrown our way. Lescott was there to take up the slack and ensured when Vince went missing, he got the word out to the lads, organising where necessary.

He'll be back soon enough, his very presence is a sign to the team of what we are about.

If anyone on here has ever paid attention to how Vincent goes about his job, you should know that he will be the first person to be fucked off with his game. City know the stats of his performances, Mancini does, Lescott does, its just a bad patch.

Vinny has no contract issues, no publicly known personal issues and just lifted us the Premier League Trophy.

You don't go shit over 1 summer, (which he rested during) He just needs to keep playing and believe in himself like we all should.

Not sure about the weight, but thought he got too many plaudits last season. He always looked worse when Lescott wasn't there to cover for him. Not saying Lescott was better as when Vince wasn't there to cover for him, Joleeeen looked terrible.

Centre halves need to be a pair who act as a pair and cover for each other. I suspect the constant changes at the back either in formation or personal has a lot to do with the problems this season.

Anyway, we effectively had our first clean sheet on Saturday but were cheated out if it by Riise and the ref. That and some real clean sheets will start to breed confidence and improve the play.

I don't get the Lescott love in that a lot seem to be party to, that's not to say that I don't like him, I think he's a half decent player but still can't get it out of my head that I'm waiting for the permanent Lescott replacement

Is it really that hard to work out? We're about 6 games in. It's just turned October. Players go through bad patches of form, cos they're human. Look at Silva. Woeful a week ago, great on Saturday. Just relax and let him play through it, cos he will.

As i said, this all comes down to the system we used. Vinnie played in that 3-5-2 where he was shite, but so was every defender we had, except Clichy.

Vinnie was as shit as Zabs, Kolo, Lesco and so on.

I've watched him play with Belgium this three games (including the friendly they had in august) and he was FLAWLESS. The same Vinnie we know and love.

The problem is that he isn't used to what Bobby wants from our defence.
