And I think this also needs saying. The cumulative effect of all these stupid free-kicks that get given against him, yellow cards for nothing fouls and yes, a red card for a perfectly good tackle, all affect his mind, I'm sure. You may notice that we don't tend to actually challenge that often and when we do, it is more than likely leading to a free-kick for the opposition. We have to get the ball back without actually tackling, c.f. the "standing off attackers" thread a fortnight or so ago. I think this is the main factor though perhaps I am wrong.
Its a good point, we make 3 less tackles per game than united last season, but commit 3 more fouls per game, but why is Kompany penalised more than the other defenders? Zabba for example is much more involved in play at both ends pf the pitch, and winning the ball back in midfield.
Whilst we all have our bad days on the job, if your job was a squad game and it was possible to give you a break as there was someone else available who could step in short term to help you resolve your problems. Unfortunately, no offices i know run a squad system, so its a pointless argument.
Kompany shouldnt be dropped imo, but he also shouldnt be immune from the drop if it continues
