Gotta love Micah Richards

Postby Swales4ever » Mon Oct 08, 2012 8:33 pm

Just looked at the personal gallery of Micah's come back shots by Sharon on the OS and just reminded me how much I love the Lad.
Not only he's one of, if not the greatest athlete in the game, but he's such a great, multitasking defender and he's reminded all of us, including the gaffer, how badly we have missed him!
As Ted pointed out that night, how much difference had made to have him pushing on Tranny's flank at Madrid?

I keep saying (dreaming, perhaps) that he might become the next Paolo Maldini with few little improvements... as it stands now, I am more than chuffed with the Micah we already enjoy.

welcome back on duty, Lad!

I think he is a great player, but I think Zabaleta is better.

I'm not necessarily arguing with Your assessment by my praise, Mate.
Zabba's form throughout the whole 2012 has been terrific and awesome and I said last year that I saw why Mancini picked Pablo at RB instead of Micah, for certain games where it had to be expected to face down a light tricky fast winger on that flank.
But I find Micah is more complete, having already added to his powerful athletism a much improved skill, boosted by the focus he now seems to be able to maintain all game long (most of the times, I'd better say) and as saturday's game proved once again the two can co-exist for the benefit of the team in many occasion. Micah can be a a great RB as well as a decent CB (and shall improve there as he matures with experience and top games under his belt) and I also think that few would be much surprised if we will happen to see Micah playing some games in the middle of the park: in facts I think that if MCFC was not the richest Club which is now and Mancini should use more of his previous creativity under less pressure to deliver, we would have already seen him playing there in a couple of occasions.

Versatile as very few others as a player and a person of contagious pleasantness.
I never denied to be biased... ;)

Great player, proper blue and by all accounts a really nice guy.

I'd name a child after him in a heartbeat.

It was interesting at the end of last season how Mancini selected Zaba over Micah for games that really mattered. For me that's probably all about reliability. Mancini would think that when it comes to relying on someone to defend at key moments Zaba might just have the edge. Not so much based on ability but on the feeling that Micah's concentration might just let him and the team down.9Plus I think Micah did have an injury late in the season and he does get a few too many)

I can sort of understand all that and Zaba is a top top guy to have in the trenches in those key games. BUT if Micah plays well and doesn't have any lapses I personally think Micah is hands down better than Zaba and basically any right back in the premiership. A top defender and a brilliant attacking full back. I am not faulting Zaba but at his best Micah wins every time for me.

We are lucky to have them both and with Maicon we might also have a top weapon to fill in at times to give them both a break.

For me Richards has been caught out of position too many times in the past, he goes on blistering runs up field that impresses everybody but then once he has lost the ball he doesnt get back quick enough, this for me is what makes Zaba the better all round player, he reads the game well and he gets up the pitch (admittedly not as fast or exciting as Richards) but his no.1 priority is defending, Zaba is quick enough but he is more intelligent and more reliable. Where I would use Richards is against Ronaldo, I'd simply instruct him to keep on his toes and stifle the little greasy prick without giving him the opportunity to dive. Richards has the speed and physique to cause him a lot of problems.

Micah was MOM for me, great comeback.
I would like to see we play these:

Clichy - Richards - Kompany - Zabaleta

Might be our best back four.

Quality player, best right back in the league when he's on form.

I think someone touched on it the other day but I think he's one of the only players in football to match Yayas power when he's on a run. He brushes players aside.

What made it better was that he knew it was hilarious. There are plenty of players that would of got in a strop or blamed a divet on the pitch for fucking it up. Micah just grins and laughs. A good sense of humour goes a long way when shits goin trout.

It would have to be a big hat to cover your bare arms and legs.
