Under 21's v Wolves

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Under 21's v Wolves

Postby Douglas Higginbottom » Tue Oct 09, 2012 8:52 pm

Not sure what to make of this game. It finished a 1.1 draw and that was about right.I don't think either side dominated but each had good chances. Nimley heading wide from a good Helan cross, Scapuzzi bringing a fingertip save from their keeper after a one two with Nimley,Suarez threatening but it fizzled out at the edge of the box and the same went for Sinclair.

Wolves had about the same number of chances with their best being a 1 on 1 where the hit the post. So there were chances but I thought the game was flat and we didn't really show much at all. Helan got that one cross right but 4 or 5 others were shockers. Facey ,the other full back, never got past half way.

It had the makings of a nil nil game but Wolves got a corner and Johansen went into flap mode.I think the first two he flapped at which went for another corner and when he finally got a half decent fist on the next one it went str8 to a Wolves player who's shot was deflected for another corner. This one was flatter and just headed home with almost no challenge.

Strange that from then Wolves seemed to sit back or were pushed back. Jules Nitcham came on for Scapuzzi ( JN looks a big unit in central midfield) and Hiwula for Evans. With Hiwula going up front to join Nimley which meant Suarez going to the right side. That's where the equaliser came from.He teased the full back ( Scapuzzi hadn't bothered him at all),got into the box and brought the foul as otherwise he was past him.Sadly he was injured and it didnt look good. Sinclair took a good pen.

Pozo came on for Suarez and was the highlight of the night for me. He has a confidence about him although he is only 16 and the Wolves lot were mostly big guys. He had 2 chances which he mostly created himself and shot just wide each time but I just liked his touch and quality.

As for the rest on the night not a lot to shout about. The 2 center backs did ok I guess ( Kennedy and Plummer)Huws and Evans in midfield were functional but not creative, Helan cannot defend,Scapuzzi was a non event bar one good effort,Nimley tried hard but missed the 2 or 3 chances that came his way.Suarez looked the man but it didnt quite happen. Sinclair threatened with a few runs but they were all about his pace and when a defender appeared nothing happened.

Thank's Doug.

How can the players take this seriously when people like Scapuzzi are involved ? This cannot be allowed to continue. It is grossly unfair that such a duffer is involved just because he shares the same nationlity as the manager.

If Hughes did this, there would be uproar. Enough is enough. Mancini needs telling that this ends now, Scapuzzi goes as soon as possible & if he won't accept that, he can go too. What signal does this give to young players thinking of signing ?

Is Scapuzzi Charlie Luciano's grandson or something ?

At least neither of Bobby's sons are playing there anymore [strike]at the moment[/strike]!

btw I'd expect Sinclair to be able to produce something in these games. I've only read the reports (from OS & from here if there is one) but it doesn't really sound like he's impressing there either. How will he cut it in the first team then? I will give him doubt for sure and I think his pace could prove to be a useful asset but he does need to step it up a bit

and Thanks for the report Doug! appreciated.

How Dare You! Luca Scapuzzi changed the game against Middlesbrough U21s.

Doug, how was Jeremy Helan?

As an attacking player Helan was average. Got one great center over for Nimley but all the rest of his attempts were poor.He doesn't have any tricks so can easily be stopped unless he gets a run on the full back but for some reason doesn't seem to use his best asset which is his pace. As a defender I thought he was very poor tonight.Poor decision making and of he had had a good wiide player against him we would have been in real trouble. As it was both Plummer and Kennedy helped him out when he was beaten.

Jeremy Helan is just running, he's still class though, its a shame he'll never make it but we'll always have extra time in the League Cup

never had an ounce of interest in him, but to call him a "duffer" seems to be a tad OTT. particularly when talking of under21's level.
I wonder if You were so straight-laced if the bloke was Czech.

Just to mention, Zdenek Zeman, one who knows a thing or two about footy, seems to rate him a little bit and the Roma fans were pretty excited with the rumour.

1. "unintelligible language"
2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

In Roger Ailes/Donnie Drumpf's words: "don't know it for a fact, but many people say so..."
there must be some truth, then!

he is right though, he is a duffer, ever match ive seen him play he looks like a lost boy, only half decent thing he did was the goal against wolves even then he wasnt great. he is nearly the same age as Balotelli who cant nail down a regular spot in our first team what hope does this guy have?even his loans haven't been encouraging. Shift him on
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In current City terms he might be considered a duffer but there is a career out there in football for him somewhere.Maybe he should be cut loose sooner rather than later to help him find it.

O yeah sorry thats been unfair to the lad, he will make money from playing football maybe even enough to retire on but it wont be in the premiership or any of the big leagues.

Why's Karim Rekik not involved with the team?! Have I missed something? Is he injured or out on loan??
