Postby Wonderwall » Fri Oct 19, 2012 2:27 pm

we have just gone 3-1 down and to be fair Liverpool are battering us, we have been shocking, Drury was our best player by far but Lombardo has just subbed him off for Levante cole... very strange

From what I've just seen, they just didn't look very good.

I've seen nowt of this game, but a bit of Cole, and I wouldn't have thought him the sort to go in all guns blazing, grab a game by the scruff of the neck, and turn it round. Hope I'm wrong.

guess this backs up marwood's comments that the academy is a few years from producing first team players...

As long as the Lads are gonna trash Juventus in the NextGen Series clash vs. Juventus I'll be fine, right now.
very much hope Suarez will be fit for it.

So far, in the (few) games I've seen ofthe EDS, Lombardo looks like an even less capable team manager than Wigley, Cassell & the last geezer. If we had a young Gazza, Shearer & Ronaldo in the team, it wouldn't make any difference as they are a complete shambles.

If there is a master plan behind all this & he's teaching them some kind of complex tactical systems which need time for them all to develop, then I apologise. I don't actually care about results at reserve/youth level, just that the players are being brought through in the correct manner & making the best of themselves (something I haven't seen since probably Mel Machin's days or even before).

From what I've seen so far, Lombardo is the worst reserve team manager I've ever seen, by some distance. What worries me, is that I get the impression the players are unhappy & lack confidence in what is going on.

Hopefully, the genius behind this system will appear soon, because I recon if you gave Steve Wigley or any run of the mill trainer the same squad, they would be playing as a team & individually performing much better.

This cannot be allowed to continue. This is more important than Mancini imo.

I don't go but thats the same feelings I have. We should be setting the u21 and eds leagues/cups etc on fire if the long term plan is to bring through youngsters. Seems we only have a couple of gem's that look like they will be good enough.

I want to see those players being taught to either play like the first team or just generally playing pass & move football, with a nice solid defensive plan.

Then I don't care if we don't win a game for two years; at least I know that the players arelearning good habits for their development.

At the moment, they look far less football savvy than the U16s. It simply isn't good enough.
