In my opinion Balo does work hard though. I think he gets stick because he's either playing next to Tevez or Aguero who do run themselves in to the ground.

We've seen a vast improvement since we signed him on the work rate front.

well..... you can't. no one is willing to pay that kind of money to buy them.

Not sure what this has to do with this thread but I wouldn't be quite so sure that nobody would be willing to pay that kind of money for either of them.

City and PSG reportedly agreed a fee of £21million for Tevez last December. His wages were the sticking point.

And if Juve really want Dzeko they're going to have to pay at least that to make selling him worthwhile for City.

the point is that if city is not a selling club (and i'm sure they aren't) why the hell should they sell a younger and most valuable player and keep olders and less valuable players ?

Mancini lost it with him at Liverpool away Tevez was around the keeper and hit the post Balo was watching like a fan. That is my point a top player tuned in taps home, bread and butter thing since he was 14. Balo needs to up it.

I think I would give him this season to prove himself, but 30m is a lot of money.

If I'm right (which I have a feeling I'm not), Balo's contract was signed prior to the 'inclusivity' period for FFP.

Therefore, everything we get for him counts as profit only, not amoritization/some other terminology I've never had the need to know.

30m would look pretty good profit on the books... Also, Guidetti won't be an 'underage' player for squad purposes for much longer.

I was just cleaning up the HDR last night & I saw the post match v Sunderland. I haven't had chance to watch it before & had just been going off what I saw at the ground.

Kolarov was interviewed & he said how he told Balotelli he would score, then it shows the celebrations, with Mario grinning like a cheshire cat & pointing at Kolarov as he runs to congratulate him.

Then it showed Balotelli getting kicked in the face, head high, but not getting a free kick. Then it showed him being rugby tackled to the ground, blatantly, & not getting a free kick. Then it shows him missing a chance he should have scored, by kicking over the ball.

Then it shows him leaving the pitch, shaking hands with Aguero AND PATTING HIM ON THE BACK AS HE GOES PAST.

Some of you lot, and the ref, should have a fucking word with yourselves.

It does appear that he is trying to show more maturity this season, he has bitten his bottom lip a fair bit already, so he should be given the season to show us he can deliver consistently. Having said that 30m is a lot, still I wouldn't sell him in jan. July maybe.

You clearly weren't watching the MOTD highlights then, as non of the things you describe actually happened.

Out of interest, did Silva and Tevez also go straight down the tunnel when they were subbed off? I think they did, but it's not been mentioned either way, as Mario is the better angle for the press.

Since he's playing today, I presume the MOTD script writers have already written tonight's piece and just need to find a few clips to add into it

But he didn't get a red card and created two really dangerous scoring opportunities. Glass half full or half empty kind of thing if you ask me.

They're only gonna concentrate on the booking and "the foul where he should've been sent off". Mark my words

You're probably right about that but just now, right at this moment, I couldn't care less. Edin Dzeko, my man!

No I'm not. He had two brilliant bits of skill, but AGAIN was lucky not to be sent off and pushes it to the limit.

It's just not worth the agony for two nice dribbles.

Well if that's all you see, then the glass is indeed half-empty for you. He covered space, tracked back, took the ball from the opposition, ran into empty spaces etc. He made very few mistakes this game, despite obviously being off balance for a while. I agree that if it would have been Mario of the 10-11 season, he'd been sent off and then shot a member of the youth team in the leg out of pure frustration, but he's showing signs of development; ESPECIALLY in his all-round contribution to the team effort. Perhaps it's time your view of Balo developed as well?

He's finally developing into a team player isn't he? The workrate and vision today was excellent, the former second to none of the forwards. The pass that led to the situation that noone bar one man thought was offside, was sublime.

Now that we've crashed out of CL, Balotelli's development is indeed someting positive to focus on.
