I dont think we should "blame" anyone. VK needs our support. Milner tried his best to play the ball he did not deliberately look to bring down the man as so often the case.
It was a close call but IMO Clattenburg could have easily given just a yellow because Lescott was covering? If we were the home team I suspect it would have a yellow?
VK is our best CB and even if his form has dropped a little we should be getting behind him helping him regain his form not talking about dropping him.

Very good post actually.
Fantastic team performance and great 3 points for City, let's focus on that. bring on Ajax!

It might not have highlighted it, the poll could have absolved Vinnie from blame and highlighted why somebody else was at fault.

I blame the referee... It was he and he only who showed Milner the red card. Or on the other end of the scale, I blame mark Hughes, if he had never have bought kompany, he'd have never put Milner in that position, in fact fuck it, Swales out! I blame that guy!

Of course kompany made the initial error which put milner under pressure, and you can't exactly blame milner for being slow, he just is and always will be. It's actually a great piece of awareness that milner was even there to attempt to win that ball ... excellent cover for his captain's fuck up. He knew he was off from when he did it, as did we all.

My question is, is it better to do that and get the red card, or make shane long beat Joe Hart 1 v 1 (with continued pressure from Milner)? In the end I guess you could say that Milner was proven correct(?) as they did not score from that play, and needed a lucky as deflected shot into long's path to do anything.

On the other hand, you could think maybe MIlner doesn't bring him down, long doesn't score, and we're still 11 men on the pitch and still 0-0. Or Long does score, we're 1-0, still with 11 men and we probably would have ended up winning 5-1 at that point ... It's all speculation obviously, but I still do question whether or not it was necessary to bring down long. It may have been the textbook 'right' thing to do, but was it necessary? We'll never know.

Firstly KK said that the sending off was the letter of the law as Milner was the last man. There is no such law as "the last man", the law is to deny a goal scoring opportunity! If Long had been running towards the corner then it would have not been a red card.

I remember Dunnie getting sent off when Kevin Keegan was in charge in a similar situation. Keegan said afterwards he wished Dunnie had not made the foul as he would rather be 1-0 down with 11 men than 0-0 with 10. You can see why Milner did the lung but I do wonder whether it would have been better to let Joe try to save it or to have conceded the goal and then fight back with 11 men. Still it made the match all the better!

it is obvisous that it was kompanys fault, but in rules of football milner was given the red.

by the way, I think milner (and also barry) make a good job, if he gets the chance. I prefer them to garcia or rodwell anyway!

The last man is quoted as it infers there was no-one else to cover and stop the player having an attempt at goal. This is why its always used in discussion as it explains all the boring bumf that the law states

Sending-off Offences
A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off if he commits any of the following seven offences:
• serious foul play
• violent conduct
• spitting at an opponent or any other person
• denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply
to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area)
• denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a
free kick or a penalty kick
• using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures
• receiving a second caution in the same match

I blame Berluskoni and Taggart: they are always top of my blame list, irrespectively.

1. "unintelligible language"
2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

In Roger Ailes/Donnie Drumpf's words: "don't know it for a fact, but many people say so..."
there must be some truth, then!

it does with the Cheshire FA, as I said on the other thread, my 14 yr old lad was sent off for telling me that the ref was a muppet and got a 35 day ban. Shame they dont have this stance in the FA at a senior level!!
