From a tactical point of view, yes.

The first goal tonight was in my oppinion Nasri and Barry's fault. Nasri didn't come back quick enough, and Barry, as the ball was a leg stretch away, was too fucking lazy to make the effort. Yaya was also ambling back which didnt help

Second goal was a mixture of Yaya, Lescott and Barry (I think). The third goal off Clichy was unfortunate.

Yes Mancini can be castigated for this obsession with going three at the back, but ultimately the players are professionals and should be able to adapt quickly to changing scenarios. I mean is going three at the back really any different to making adjustments quickly when going down to 10 men on Saturday?

All players want to be at a club playing Champions league to further their international ambitions. But do ours have the appetite, zeal and tenacity to go that step further, that extra mile, into the latter stages. I sadly, think not.

Finally, and its not an excuse, this is the group of death. Did any of us really think this would be easy. If we can win our last three games, and Borussia beat Real on their patch, we go through....simple. We dug ourselves out of one trough in April and May and climbed that Mountain...maybe it can happen again.

West Brom was a much tougher game than tonight.

The team we see in the Champion's League is not City & would not finish in the top half of the Premier League.

Players should still be able to adapt Ted....do you not agree there?

Absolutely, but imo we had done that in the 2nd half. Neville hit it spot on in the commentary, we had started to play with much more energy and push up, like we do in the Prem. He was saying that we should just play our game & we'd batter Ajax. The goal was a cock up but imo it was not decisive. We could easily have got back and won that game just by continuing with what we were doing, then chuck Tevez on later.

Mancini took away any chance we had of winning in a fit of mentalness.

That's utter bollocks - is it hell as like fact! Fact would be those 10 managers playing the same team / players in the same conditions and that's impossible to prove and is therefore just your opinion

Can I say, he actually reminded me of AVB at Chelsea today. Apart from shitting on the pitch, he had AVB all over him.

He scared me tonight. He looked like he'd lost it completely & that Brian Kidd was trying to help him get his shit together & cheer him up. Very very worrying indeed.

1st goal was milners fault for not tracking the run.

2nd goal was Lescotts fault as the ball came into his zone and he didnt have the awarness to have a look behind before the ball came in.

3rd goal was kompanys but i blame mancini for the 3-5-2 as kompany was trying to cover the runner who clichy had marked but kompany still thought he should try and cut out the pass which then left space for eriksen to just walk past kompany and have the shot.

Nasri, Aguero and Toure was supposed to be a game winners tonight and to be honest they look far from world class for the money the sheik pays for them and there previous form for other clubs. Yes we won the premier league but against the champions of spain, holland and germany we got outclassed. Playing well and losing the odd goal or a piece of brilliance from an opposing team i can take but to be totally outplayed is very suprising and not on.

I've been thinking about this and other similar statements so I thought I'd look up SAF's record at the swamp.
Appointed 6th nov 1986
1st FA cup 1990, after about 3 ½ years
Cup winners cup 1991, after about 4 ½ years
1st league title 1993. after about 6 ½ years
1st CL victory 1999, after about 14 ½ years

Hardly instant or guanteed success.
Jose seems to have the knack of instant success, but he's a bit of a one-off

Apologies if this has been stated, but we are playing against 3 other Champions in our group. No other group is filled like ours. We are playing teams all on a level of Chelsea/Scum, we shouldn't be walking away with it and we need to realise that Ajax might seem like the easiest game, but its like saying that Arsenal away is the most win-able game against those top 4 prem teams. It might be the most win-able but ITS STILL NOT FUCKING EASY AT ALL.

The whole club should slap itself for 24 hours and decide what the FUCK they are going to do to sort this out. Bob needs to listen and consider player opinions and the players need to get on-side with whatever Bob decides.

The board/Marwood also need slapping for not bringing in any players who have made us better. I bet EVERY transfer this summer was from the B or C list.

I suggest if anyone in power at the club is reading this, we buy a world class CB in jan, no matter what the cost.
