Travelling in Europe

Postby Lee_R » Wed Oct 24, 2012 9:22 pm

Thats it for me, we just dont travel well in Europe. Is it preperation or what? Its not that were being beat by great teams though they are apparently the best in their countries, its more that we dont have any bottle or sharpness when were abroad we become clueless! I just do not get it! It can be argued that we cant set up for European teams but thats bollocks we can beat Arsenal, Rags and Chelsea no matter how they play and they'd exploit that fact if it was the case.

Pissed off.

I understand that.. but we have also been good at home or managed to draw when we've been bad. We ALWAYS travel shit in Europe.

Mancini's post match interview on sky was a strange one in which he seemed to blame tonight's defeat on poor preparation. When asked what he meant by poor preparation he just said that he had done things differently this time but wouldn't (perhaps understandably) specify what

Yes, strange again. In a way I'm glad he doesnt say too much and blame this and that but only if he sorts it out. Also he blamed himself and as always that has to be admired.

He's pulling the same thing he always does when we lose - shifting the blame from the team onto himself - only this time it really was his fault.

In one hour wer'e off to the train that will take us to the airport.
Looking forward to this trip, may I say I haven't seen City lose live since a FA-cup game against Millwall at the old Den in January 1990. How's that for a record? Well haven't seen as many games as you all lot but I hope it's an omen. And thanks Nigel's Tackle once again.

Got tickets to West Ham as well and truth be told I've also decided to go to Leeds to watch their game with Southampton on tuesday night. Leeds is def not a favorite team but as wer'e out of the Capital One and the other option being Wigan-Bradford I choose Leeds.

Well my travelling in Europe as been great this week - 3 cracking days in Amsterdam - just a couple of hours last night that was a let down - amazing how quickly pints of Juliper ease the pain!!

Just at the airport on the way back, my wife just asked how bad I feel going all this way just to see us get beat?

My reply was that it was not that long ago that I was travelling to most home matches and places like Preston (I live in the South) to see CITY get beat - this was a blast in comparison!!

Will post up a full review of the day in the morning, including some pearling stories like falling asleep on the train to the airport last night at 3am and not waking up till rotterdam but being too pissed to work out what had happened

Apparently what we did differently was to train on their pitch.

Normally we arrive later and just soak up the atmosphere without actually playing on it.

Is there a point to be made that all the English teams are struggling in Europe this week?

Chelsea lost 2-1, Arsenal 2-0, us against Ajax whilst the Rags went 2 down before a fight back against a very average team. Spurs have just had to pull one back for a draw against relative minnows and we will now see how the Dippers get on.

Internationals followed by weekend games and then European ones seem to take their toll. Would explain our lack-lustre performance.
