me and my lads trip to amsterdam

Postby feedthegreek » Thu Oct 25, 2012 6:19 pm

set off on monday 22nd oct on the 5 30 flight from manc to amsterdam without tickets, arrived in hotel about 10 oclock monday evening had a few drinks then bed, tuesday set off for rotterdam for a day spent the day there before returning to hotel for few drinks and watched barca v celtic in the hotel bar, wed seen a few other blues but no spare tickets. so day of the match went to visit ajax arena paid for a ground tour lasted about ann hour well worth the 12 euros each it cost, but their trophy cabinet is kept in their official shop in the rembrantsplein so we went there, while inside a guy named john dressed in proper official city suit and club badge came over for a chat, he was with some ajax officials also on the tour, we had the city tops on so he came over chatting bout city and stuff and about the new ethihad tour and how it had been revamped,he asked had we got tickets we told him no, we carried on finished the tour when we got outside he followed us out told us to wait, he then telephoned danny wilson asked if he had any tickets left for the match after a brief conversation with danny, he told me and me son to go to the le europe hotel for 5 30 yesterday afternoon ask for danny wilson at reception and there would be 2 tickets for us for the game, couldnt believe it, we went met danny wilson who duly gave us 2 hospitality tickets for the match, had a great time obviously gutted about the result, but getting in to see the match live and sampling the occasion and atmosphere was brilliant, big thanks to john and danny wilson how lucky were we.

sounds like a great trip, shame it was spoilt by the football. were you in the city end or hospitality?

Outstanding pal. I love these type of stories, shows how we look after our fans, even if they don't understand paragraphs ;-)

Although, it does seem very far-fetched. You didn't make it up did you or arrange to get an exclusive afterwards?

Possibly one of the most informative sentences I've ever read...

Glad you had a good trip. Tempted to try to make it to a Europa game, provided we make it.

Sorry for posting here - cant be arsed starting new thread

Finally recovered sufficiently from a 48 hour session that will probably go down as one of my last big drinking exploits as I progress into middle age. There were some very funny moments, some sad ones (notably the game), but thought I would record my trip here for posterity.

It all started rather hurriedly, after a 3am start to get to Liverpool airport and negotiating a huge queue at security, walking through the airport we suddenly heard "this is the final call for easyjet flight xxx, would passengers smith, jones etc move to gate 8 immediately, the gate will be closed in 1 minute and you will not be allowed to fly". I don't know what was worse, that the flight was about to set off without us, or that our names werent on the list of passengers they were missing!

Anyway, they weren't joking, we made it legging it full pelt to the gate. We got a bollocking off the token gay bloke at the gate, then also the token gay head trolley dolly. I mention their sexuality only because It really is something to behold the campest bloke in the world finger-wagging and bollocking 6ft skinheads as they shuffle down the plane aisle apologetically. After all that rush, we got to the end of the runway and the fucking captain shut the engines down and told us we were going nowhere just yet as they didn't have a landing slot in Amsterdam - oh well.

Anyway we arrived at about 9am half an hour late, to one of the nicest airports I've ever seen. It truly is a world hub, and so we were not surprised that it contained a few oddballs. Whilst we were walking over to buy train tickets, we walked past this white haired old woman who was holding a big tree branch bigger than her, and had a big fuck off husky-type dog sat at her feet. We thought nothing of it until we were stood at the ticket counter and heard all this commotion in the distance, we thought it would be pissed up blues having a sing, till we walked back and realised it was this woman singing some sort of native american tome. As the police moved in to nab her, the dog jumped up and bit 3 of the coppers and chased another two off. We didnt stick around to see the final outcome but it was funny to see the coppers shit themselves.

Train journey was efficient and uneventful, as was much of the morning as we had a mooch around the town and had a couple of beers. Got ripped off for 9euros a beer in Dam Square, so moved up to the Old Sailor at about 1ish, where blues were already numbering in the hundreds. We moved over to the far side of the canal as the bar there was a couple of euros cheaper, but we could already tell something was brewing. As we spent the next hour or so, kids maybe 20 years old or so would come and stand and take photographs then walk off, they certainly appeared to be spotting for somebody. The Ajax fans numbers started to grow around 3pm - at which point we decided to nip to KFC for some food. Cheeky cunts wanting to charge a Euro for a piss in KFC after I'd paid nearly 8 for food, so that was the first row of the day. Having refused to pay it the woman came in screaming at me, after a polite fuck off, she brought two blokes in who also got short shrift and a little scuffle ensued before they left me alone to my piss.

When we got back to the old sailor area at about 4/5pm (this time via the off licence at 1euro a can) there was obviously some serious trouble brewing, with the ajax fans now around in huge numbers on the opposite side of the canal and the police out in numbers. Now, despite what anyone has said in the media the city fans on the whole behaved impeccably. There is film footage of when it "kicked off" on the daily mail website which was taken from the scaffolding above where we were stood, and to be honest the police came down very heavily on the Ajax fans who did appear to start the bottle throwing and scuffles. The police charged them repeatedly with horses, and the "snatch squad" nipped in to the city fans every now and again to remove a cunt.

After that we moved on to teasers near the train station, and had a good laugh with the Ajax lads in there got them all doing "the Toures" on the tables. That was until one blue fell a good 4 foot from a table and was out cold for a while - hope he was ok, they were stiill waiting for ambulance when we left and he was still unconscious. As we didnt have a fucking clue how to get to the ground and by this stage werent in much of a state to work it out either, so we arranged our own personal tour guides, Ajax fans from the bar and they took us to the ground.

Not much to say about the game, except that there was a crush outside the ground and some people were hurt, yet another badly organised mess. Game was wank, we were kept in for about half an hour after the game, then made our way back into town. By this time it was nearly midnight, and not much time before things started to close down. One abiding memory from the evening was the absolutely stunning brass in the first window past the old sailor. Had I not been newly married..........

Set off to the airport about 1.30am, fell asleep on 10 minute train journey to the airport, and woke up in Rotterdam an hour later which was quite amusing, but a bloody good job our flight wasnt for a few hours. Whilst waiting for thhe train back from Rotterdam,a ticket inspector woke me up in Rotterdam station for no reason at all. Didnt think anything more of it, until on the train the same ticket inspector woke me up from my slumbers with an £85 euro fine for having my feet up on the train - dont know what it is, but every time I travel with City, the ticket inspectors seem to be the most miserable cunts, and often as the first representatives of the country you are visitng, leave a very poor impression. Unfortunately I probably made the same impression of the English, as he got told to stick his fine up his arse, fortunately he never came back with any coppers to enforce it, he obviously knew he was being a cunt an trying it on.

Managed to get a couple of hours sleep at Schiphol before having another couple of beers and back to blighty.

Stayed in town all day, and finished it off watching Labrinth at the academy, which was pretty fucking good, and am now just about to leave for a couple of nights in the lake district for some well earned R&R

Is he not on about the "singer" Labrinth?

On a side note; Bowie has never been more Saville-esq than in that film.
