Things livened up when Arse made a couple of subs. Then Mbia self destructed by kicking Vermaelen.

A miserable afternoon / wake up call interface for your WHU correspondent.

I actually have a sneaking admiration for Bobby Martinez, notwithstanding his apparent ability to tolerate that pompous fool Dave Whelan, but it still feels a bit undignified to get beaten by one of his teams twice in a calendar month.

Hardly preparation for the 6 point champ's league qualification decider we're working towards next week.

how does WHU lose and Fulham draw w/ Reading? this league is so unpredictable.

What is so strange about those two results?

Hammers are away and lose. they haven't really set the world alight have they?(sorry walmai)...
and Reading at home vs Reading, a draw. slightly better team being the away team here again. how is that unlikely result?

I don't think Reading is good whatsoever and I'm shocked they scored 3 in one game.

You do have a point there tho I haven't seen Reading play yet. Only highlights and you can't really form an opinion based only on highlights.

Whatever the result today between Chelsea and the Scum, City benefit. On that basis, I couldn't care less who wins.

However, Chelsea now have a strong squad after their summer spending spree and they seem to have either found an accounting way to sidestep the FFP threat, or are completely oblivious to it and I would reckon they will be spending big again, in the January window, to further strengthen their team.

They need to get a replacement for Torres (Falcao ??) as well as another striker to further share the goal scoring burden (Cavani ??) and if they succeed in this, they'll be a formidable proposition.

With regard to The Scum, we can do the double over them this season and other teams will take points off them as well, as they are now overachieving in virtually every game. They're lacking in midfield and defence and the goals will dry up, especially if Van Pussy ends up injured at any time. I don't think the Glazers will be too enthusiastic about opening up their wallets too wide, in January, to allow further spending on new players.

On that basis, any points that Chelsea drop before their January spending will be a bonus for City and if The Scum were to win today, it wouldn't be the end of the world, as far as I'm concerned.

However, as I said previously, irrespective of the result today, City benefit so, who cares ??
