Kicking The Ball Out When A Player Is Injured

Kicking The Ball Out When A Player Is Injured

Postby King Kev » Sat Oct 27, 2012 8:46 pm

Now I know the rule is that the referee is supposed to decide if the game should stop when a player is injured but I was very disappointed with Swansea today.

In the first half Joe Hart was screaming at the ref to stop the game when a Swansea player was down in the area.

Unfortunately when Micah was rolling around in the area in obvious distress in the second half Swansea chose to ignore it and try to score.

It hardly seems fair to try and use an injury to a fellow professional to your advantage.
Swansea should be ashamed of themselves.

ok to play on when one of your own (nasri) is down though?

ref not players should stop the game...

If football was a gentlemens' game I would agree. But it's not.
I want City's players to give their all until the whistle is blown

I know the ref is supposed to decide if the game should be stopped, I meant to mention that in my post but must have forgot.

In what way is playing on whilst a member of your own team is injured unfair??

Always leave it to the ref imo as there are too many cheats out there in all teams who would take advantage.

I think the ref has to stop it if its a head injury but other than that if a player goes down off the ball then it's his own problem until the play comes to a stop of its own accord.

I sit in the family stand and I was watching the Swansea player at the back post and wondering if Micah was aware that he'd pulled back and had 12 square miles of open fucking field unmarked and when I looked back to Micah saw him just start hobbling and then fall. So with some players being absolute cunts I can understand Swansea not putting the ball out during a promising attack when it could just be abit of cramp or something like that.

So when the Swansea player went down and the ref doesn't see it Joe should just ignore it and play on?

What if he had a heart attack like Foe or Muamba? Or swallowed his tongue like Paul Lake? Do we just ignore and try to score before referee notices?

nasri goes down, we play on but instead of carlos scoring we lose possession and swansea go up the other end and score... is that fair?

I don't think it's just for head injuries. Otherwise they would have played around Muamba as he lay dead on the pitch last season.

If the injury is genuine and possibly serious the game should stop and any decent person on the pitch at the time should be the one to stop it.

hard to guess for an italian.
in serie A the rule has become farcial, being vastly used to waste time in a very nasty, annooying way. in the Land of the Game, tho, I think KK has a point.

1. "unintelligible language"
2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

How can you control it? A player goes down right when the opposition has a dangerous looking attack... (like what happened with Micah today).... and the referee stops the game. Half a minute later it turns out that the player was 'just exhausted' and that's the reason he collapsed. What happens then? The attacking side loses a golden scoring opportunity and the player 'who was hurt' gets back on the field after 30seconds. We have such an amazing scumbags playing the game of football these days that it won't be long before someone fakes a heart attack if it helps his team.
as I said earlier if the game was played by gentlemen we wouldn't have a problem but these days...

Not long before the injury there was a brief stoppage while Micah was having his cramps stretched by one of the Swansea players - Swansea (and the ref) probably thought the injury was cramp coming back at first.

Players know the difference between someone faking it and real injury however, some teams will play on regardless as they feel they'll have an advantage. Completely wrong but that's the way it is and nobody can do nowt about it.

Personally, if it's a Rag player, play on. Anybody else, benefit of doubt.

I remember a game vs West Ham a few years back. Julian Faubert was lying on the floor, we kicked it out and he jumped straight back up up. I disagree with putting the ball out. It should be the ref and ref only who decides. Too many cheats who take advantage.

But what if the referee doesn't see the player lying prone on the ground, as happened yesterday?

In that case the referee should allow the biggest hardest player to twat him.

It seems you have come up with the perfect solution to the problem!

The reaction of other players is usually the give away. The linesman could perhaps help when the ref has his back to it. But when you had to kick the ball out it became ridiculous with players dropping all over the pitch.

That is the point of this thread. Swansea player goes down - City players call for the ref to stop the game: City player goes down - Swansea play on and try to score.
