Micah's Knee op.

Micah's Knee op.

Postby Dameerto » Mon Oct 29, 2012 4:11 pm

Just stumbled on this via twitter, he's just had an operation this afternoon: (apologies to Chinners for use of the Daily Fail)

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... ation.html

Micah Richards underwent surgery on his injured knee at a Manchester hospital on Monday afternoon.

The City defender saw a specialist at lunchtime who recommended immediate surgery to mend a torn knee cartilage.

Richards suffered the injury near the end of Saturday's narrow win over Swansea in the Barclays Premier League

There were fears that the England international had damaged knee ligaments, something that could have ruled him out until the end of the season.

However, those fears were allayed on Monday morning and Richards is hopeful that his lay-off will be weeks rather than months.

Monday afternoon’s surgery is likely to have been a key-hole operation, a procedure that reduces the recovery time.

Richards and City manager Roberto Mancini will not receive the full prognosis until later on Monday.

Meanwhile, City winger David Silva is back in England after spending a week in Spain having physio on a hamstring injury.

The Spanish international hopes to be back in training with his City team-mates towards the end of the week but will not play against West Ham on Sunday.

With Zabba, Maicon and Micah all injured it shows the importance of trying to learn to play at 3 at the back.

or we can play Milner at right back

Clichy's right footed... Bob likes to turn central defenders into fullbacks in an emergency though (if we have any of those left)

Didn't realise we were playing west ham twice this weekend

They are called the Daily Fail for a reason though
"If we fire our manager after just one bad season - We'll become Chelsea"
"If we think we can fix the problem by buying expensive players - We'll become City"
"If we remember the good times to entertain us during the bad times - We'll become Liverpool"

So, keep calm and do it the United way

"We invest in young players, That is what we are good at — we’re not like other clubs who can spend fortunes on proven goods. We know that Manchester City are going to pay stupid money, pay silly salaries and all that. We can’t do anything about it. We concentrate on what we can do to try to bring players in for the right reasons. We invest in those who will be with the club for a long time, who will create the character of the club, who will create excitement for our fans. We are very proud of that and we are going to continue that way" - Alex Ferguson 14th May 2012

Not sure if thats a wind up.He is one of the most reliable players we have, rarely puts in a bad performance.Would be insane to even contemplate selling a player of his quality.

He is indeed.(Relied on as in staying more or less injury free)....when he is rarely fit.
Thats my point.

Im not going to pretend he has had a clear bill of health but he still manages to make a valued contribution to the team.He is an outstanding player and by no means should he be sold on.

It's on the OS now:

http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Team-news/20 ... nee-injury

Micah Richards has spoken for the first time after successfully coming through an operation on a torn meniscus in his right knee - an injury that will keep him out for up to four months.

The City and England defender is on crutches at present and hoping to return sooner if his recovery goes to plan.

He was stretchered off in the second half of the 1-0 win over Swansea just four games into a comeback after missing two months with an ankle problem.

Despite the latest setback the trademark Richards’ sunny nature was much in evidence.

“The positive thing is that the injury has been repaired so the knee will be as good as new,” he reported.

“I have a brace on it and I am using crutches. I can’t do anything at all for the next four to six weeks and I am probably looking at 12-16 weeks before I am back in action.

“I knew straight away in the game that it was quite a bad injury. The knee locked and I couldn’t straighten it.

“I suppose it could have been even worse and not repairable which would have meant removing the meniscus; so I am being positive. Injuries are all part and parcel of the job but this coming on top of the other one I do feel a little hard done to!

“I will be working as hard as I can to get back as quickly as I can and I thank all the fans who have sent their best wishes.”

The latest injury comes at a time when the 24-year-old was looking forward to getting stuck into the meat of the season having made a big impact following his return from a problem picked up in the Olympics playing for team GB.

“I felt I was doing okay. We beat Sunderland, West Brom and Swansea and kept two clean sheets in those three games, so things were going well in the Premier League,” he concluded.

“I am sure the lads will continue that run of form and I will be looking forward to getting stuck into the title defence as soon as possible when I return. Everyone has their opinion on how we have started the season but the league table looks pretty good!”
